  1. Blew a head gasket in my 1992 loyale and I'm gonna pull the trigger on a frankenmotor swap. I'm going to be buying the motors from a friend, I'm getting an ej25d I believe (came out of a 1998 legacy gt) shortblock with an ej22 longblock from a 1997 impreza base model. Would this have phase 1 or phase 2 heads? What do I need to know about putting these two together? Which intake and accessories to use, what part number for head gasket? I will get the wiring harness for the ej22 and still have everything from the loyale. I know there are a couple people here in Washington who can do the wiring harness for me (namely sjr), so I'm not worried about that. I'm willing to pay someone who knows what they are doing for that. I'm keeping the 5spd from my loyale or swapping in the d/r if I find one, so I'll be buying the adaptor plate from sjr as well. Just looking for any information on the swap. I've done some reading on it, but want to know the specifics for the two engines I'm getting.
  2. They're not shiny, but they're not discolored at all, and they are tight.
  3. It was a used pump. But today, I pulled my battery to have it tested, and as soon as I touched the wrench to the negative terminal, all my doors unlocked. The battery tested good, and after reconnecting it, my radio and headlights won't turn on.
  4. In the last month, my loyale had three instances where it would crank but not start, but after a few minutes, it would eventually start. About a week ago, it would not start at all. I wasn't hearing my fuel pump, so I replaced it today. Now it won't even crank, and will sometimes make a weird whining noise and the rpms will spike up to 2000 when I put the key in the on position. Could this be ECU? If not, what else?
  5. My Loyale (5spd push-button 4wd) won't start, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to fuel pump. I want to check the relay first because its much cheaper if that is the issue, but I cannot find the fuel pump relay. My chilton manual doesn't say anything about the relay, and the internet says it's below the steering wheel or behind the drivers side front strut. I have looked all over the engine compartment and cannot find it. Help?
  6. I wasn't trusting the gauge, I felt multiple parts of the engine and everything actually felt cooler than I would expect, even for normal operating temp.
  7. I have a coolant leak (I think it's the reservoir) and my loyale has not been hot at all, even when I don't put coolant in. My radiator core is exposed and has been for a couple days, and after driving over 200 miles in one trip, nothing felt hotter than it should. Is this normal for the ea82?
  8. Got a Grey '91 Loyale with push button 4wd the other day. I'm looking to do some mods, so can anyone shoot me any links for that? Anything that will make her run better.
