  1. Thanks gang for the replies. I may do some carb work soon to it. Tonight I changed the dist. cap and rotor, it helped quite a bit, bit it's still not where it should be. I'm going to get new wires, but I have to order them so it'll be a few days. I think it may be possible that the dist. is in worng; when I got the car the dist. had been taken loose and the wiring for it was completely gone. I got the wiring, but I'm wondering if the dist. hadn't been stabbed back in the hole 180 degrees from how it's supposed to be. Any ideas? (BTW, I'm really begining to love the 4WD, all I can say is my Subie loves the mud and I think it makes it look even better )
  2. I've been having this trouble with my 4wd Wagon. It actually left me stranded this evening. I eventually just hot wired it and ran a toggle switch for it also. Good anti-theft device . Next step: lighted blue (to match the interior) toggle switch mounted on a turned aluminum panel.
  3. Hello fellow Subie junkies! Just joined the foroum and used to browse it occasionally. I am the proud owner of 2 '84 GL Wagons; one is a white with blue interior, roof rack, wing, 1.8 2WD 5 speed and the other is white with blue interior, Sun roof, factory cruise, factory fog lights, 1.8 4WD 4 speed. I've had the 2wd Subie for about 10 years on (used to belong to my mother) and it has been thru hell and back but a few months back someone gave me my 4WD (ironically I tried to buy it a year eariler) The sun roof subie is in really good shape and just needs a little TLC. I've managed to get it running after havingit sit for 5 years, but I'm having a few problems. The car (when it was on the road) was fanatically maintained, I have the orginal window sticker, loan application and every piece of paper work on everything ever done to it. Sitting has taken a slight toll on it though, a few renegade mechanics disassembled most of the wiring to the distribuitor but I managed to grab that out of the junk yard and after re-installing the plug wired with the right firing order and getting the timing within a sane range I got it to get fire but no fuel; cleaned the tank and lines and I have fuel and a good running engine. My trouble is this, the engine does have a slight bit of hesitation when you give it a full throttle stab while out of gear, but under load (i.e. on the road or pulling a hill) it has like zero power> I can tell that it has a dead miss in it, so I put plugs in it and will do wires, cap, rotor, ect tomorrow. Anyone else have any ideas? This whole 2bbl, cruise control is totally new to me; I'm used to my 1bbl Subie that runs like a scalded cat (routinely whips turbo hondas ) Also, once I get my engine straightend out, I'd like to add a push bar (or grile guard, whatever you want to call it) Where on the web might I find one? And I also need bulbs for my fog/running lights; they are sealed beam halogens from what I can tell, but I can't find anything the right size in my area. One of mine is busted but works and the other is cosmetically fine and does nothing . I know it's a lot to ask for my first post, but I think I've come to the right place. Thanks!
