  1. Although I absolutely love the concept, I can see a few challenges. In no way am I intent on discouraging you. The width of a Suby motor may be too wide for the narrow 7 frame. A 7 is traditionally rear wheel drive. What gearbox do you have in mind? The engine of a 7 is set behind the front axle line, which is way up front. If you are thinking of going all wheel drive, the nose of a 7 doesn't have the real estate for an engine ahead of the axle. My thoughts off the top would be a built EJ25 or the 6 cylinder options suggested above, mated to a Nissan or Toyota box, diff is open to options as you need a custom driveshaft anyway, but matched to rear suspension if its not custom. Rear suspension and shafts you'll need to research. Old school is a solid rear diff. I've seen Mazda MX5/Miata rear subframe used successfully.
  2. Yeah mate. Been there and feel your pain.???? I'm a) not in a hurry, and b ) being lazy. I have the ability to sort out my own problems. ???? Cheers,
  3. Received my hubs this week. Great work Dean! Now, who said they were working on a template for the backing plate mods......????
  4. I'm happy with the proposed studs. They are functionally the same and I'm never (hopefully) going to need to replace a stud so it won't be an issue as far as I'm concerned. Cheers, Matt
  5. Confirm on the list, although Adelaide is still in South Australia, last time I checked...
  6. Oh yeah! I'll be down for a pair with new studs. Matt
  7. So are Aussie buyers paying in USD or are you going to come up with an AUD price.... I am busting with excitement now they are so close.
  8. If it's of any use to anyone, I have some photos of the x breed kit which show the backing plate in some detail. They were originally on the Ausubaru development thread which I suspect have been lost in the forum crash that happened years back. I've dropped some of them in an album here: hope this is enlightening for those that haven't seen them. I suspect I have some other gems saved away on my HDD. I'll have to spend some time digging around. cheers, Matt
  9. I've been out there drumming up business on the Brumby facebook page. The itch is getting strong. Keep up the great work!
  10. This is getting really exciting........ I am absolutely in for a pair. I absolutely agree with sticking to the far more common standard EJ size studs. So the burning question for me is..... what is the understanding on how the various EJ wheels will fit to an early series (MY or Brumby/BRAT)? From memory wheels from the EJ vehicles have a highly positive offset in the order of +40mm / +50mm. So is there going to be issues with fitting them? Is there need for spacer plates to push the wheels out by 20mm or so (ignoring the legality question)? Is this only going to be a problem on the rear? I'm assuming those with experience or interest in these conversion options, and the x-bread kits, will have the answer to hand. Awesome work so far Mr Foyle. Cheers, Matt
