  1. i was at the portland auto show also, and i was fairly impressed. a hell of a lot better than the pictures i had seen online. though, as sad news to the subaru world, i fell in love with the grey scion tc so i am going to get a loan this week and buy one. i will be selling my 98 obs in the process, so i will be soobless until i can afford a brat. i know, i know, lmao @ me for liking scions.
  2. how hard is it to find a 1990-1994 legacy with a 2.2 turbo? i just want to buy the car and get the turbo and stuff off of it for my OBS. i tried ebay and autotrader but they both had em for over 3 grand.
  3. I paid 350 for a timing belt (along with all other belts) cam seals and water pump, but of course it was a mechanic who's a friend of mine who did the work.
  4. I went on a ride along with a cop in high school for a project and he was checking peoples plates pretty much the whole time he wasnt pulling someone over. every time there was a new car in front of us he was running the plates through the computer.
  5. my clutch is just about fried so i am int he market for a new one. i want to get a better one than stock though. my friend recommended ACT, but I dont know much about clutches. I drive a 98 OBS. so far i've found these 3,a nd i have no idea what even the difference in the three of these are. what would you go with? i'm trying to keep it at $400 or less, thougha little over is okay. http://www.coximport.com/store/SB2-HD00 http://www.coximport.com/store/SB2-HDR4 http://www.coximport.com/store/SB2-HDR6 help me out! i'm pretty tough on my clutch, so i need something thats going to be able to take a beating, especially when i start putting more and more money into my car to speed it up.
  6. i have a 98 OBS and my battery went to hell a few months after i bought it (iearly last year). i dont think replacing the battery will do anything wrong to your security system but i could be wrong. i have a viper, but i put it in there after a plopped in an optima. i do a lot of stereo work so my batttery is disconnected a lot. if you dont fgure it out by the time i disconnect it again (next couple days) i'll let you know if my alarm still works.
  7. that makes me pretty happy that most things for an impreza will fit my car. also, a new WRX engine would be kind of neat to have.
  8. oh my, i just saw a picture of the 05 outback stereo situation, and it is horrid. i hate cars that force you to use their head units. what if i want better sound? the only thing you can do is cut that stupid thing out and put a new one in its place, which would be way too spendy and way too annoying. i'd probably do it though, just because i drive a lot and music is my life. i hate stock stereo stuff.
  9. i'd suggest buying a new head unit. www.ikesound has the lowest prices of anyone as far as I can tell. i bought my alarm, speakers, and head unit from them and got it all for waaaayyy cheaper than i would have in a store or even crutchfield. a good tip is to find decks on ikesound AND crutchfield since crutchfield has a way better description and better pictures, then just buy from ikesound. i think all kenwood head units have aux in in the back. the x979 is one of the best head units you can get these days, and it works perfectly with an ipod (i have it, and an ipod in my car now) as for sound, stock head units are almost always worse off than a decent aftermarket one.
  10. I have a 98 OBS and I love it. I had an oil leak for a couple of weeks but I replaced the timing belt and water pump along with all of the seals and it fixed it right up.
  11. oh and also, will other parts fit like say... headlights or a body kit, tail lights, all the cosmetic stuff? is it the same exact engine? i'm trying to understand the differences between my car and all the other imprezas.
  12. i may give that a try. i need to get a K&N filter I guess, I've been using a 3" filter that i just hooked onto my MAF witha little adaptor. Really though< I wouldnt mind the sound of the intake (kind of why i want it, the winding of the engine annoys me more and more) I just need to get around the MAF problem. maybe i'll just have to take the ****ty intake I have to a shop and have them do a bit of work to make it fit.
  13. yeah i ordered a short ram off ebay for really cheap, the only problem is theres no way to hook it onto my MAF. what did you do to get around that? also, there's 4 hoses going into the original intake and only 3 spots for hoses on the new one. do you have an outback sport?
  14. how much of this stuff would fit my car? http://www.andysautosport.com/models.php?make=Subaru&id=Su95Imprez do most impreza things fit on an OBS? i still don't understand how it works and why they had to make it an impreza or an outback. they should have made it something completely different. what exactly is the difference between my car and the same year impreza or same year outback? is it just the body style? its all so confusing and i'm new to subarus.
