  1. Probably your window seal. Is it pudling up on the driver side floorboard? My first gen was leaking from the plastic window seal insert right above the steering wheel.
  2. I have 2 Flying Saucer hub caps for $$. Both in good condition for their age. Message me if your in the market!
  3. 99% sure the sunroof/moonroof was not an option. I have however seen it a few times on first gens, all of them have been aftermarket.
  4. I was having the same issue with my 79, it was the float sticking on mine. Also I see your in Utah, I'm in Colorado and adjusting the Carb for the correct elivation is crucial. Good luck, keep us posted. First gens forever!
  5. I was having the same issue a few months ago, I replaced the fuel filter in the top left corner of the engine bay ($3). It did not fix the issue the first time arround so I disconnected the rubber hose from the front of gas tank and used a compressor to blow out the fuel line (towards the front of the car) and replaced the fuel filter again. There was a bunch of build up that blew out, (make sure you have the fuel filter under the hood detached and line free to purge). That did seem to fix the issue at first however a week later I was travleing to Avon (about 30 miles away) and my Brat flooded out while driving. She started back up roughly and hour later and I took her back home. Since then. Rebuilt and rejetted the carb and have had no issues. Just so you know there is no filter in the gas tank on the first gens. The fuel pump is a good place to start as well, when you turn the key to the on position you should here rapid clicking. Similar to the sound you here when typing on a iPad or smart phone. If your not hearing that noise you probably have a bad fuel pump or poor connections to the fuel pump. Good luck, keep us posted
  6. It's my Brat's big brother, I have a 79 same color same brown plaid intirior. I have been looking all over the country for a new seat, I want to stay with the originals but my driver seat is toast. Let me know if your ever up I-70. I would love to see it in person!
  7. Hello, I'm not sure what's going on with my Brat. I am by no means a carb expert, but I think I'm flooding. While driving my Brat stops responding to the gas pedal and idles down to a stall. I let the car cool down for an hour and it will fire right up again. This seems to happen when I drive 30miles or more. It has happened to me 4 times now. I believe I am running a lil rich, the make shift exhaust I'm running backfires when I let off the gas pedal while driving. The carburetor was just rebuilt, jetted and all has all new gaskets. I checked for cracks on all the hoses connecting to the carb already. I know carbs can be pretty finicky. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
  8. Wow, I haven't seen anything quit that bad before. I'm suprised you weren't having more noticeable problems. There is a 1980 parts Brat in Fort Collins for $400. Parts cars are going to be your best bet with random ea71 parts. Which Subi do you have?
