1998 Outback 2.5L phase 1 engine What is proper order of removal for the head bolts? Any other advise on this operation would be welcome.

I have a 98 outback with the Head gasket problems it is a nightmare. Go with a newer model. 01 or 02

What parts or kits will be needed and where is most cost effective place to get the parts or kit at for head gasket replacement.

Who or what is CCR?

Well long story short, I don't know if they went bad on their own or if I helped the situation, but I appear to have a blown head gasket in this 98 2.5L legacy Outback I have had it 1 year and 6 month 130000k. It had 90k on it when purchased. As soon as I drive 10 to 15 miles the temp gauge starts climbing. I have to shut it down and wait 30 min. to cool back down then I can go another 10 to 15 miles. I have heard I high-pitched squeak when going down the road and this is when the temp starts to climb around 10 to 15 miles down the road. Sitting at idle in the drive for two hours will not over heat. Also noticed a little oil in the over flow tank. The shop wants to change the timing belt and water pump and clean the radiator. After readings on hear I think it might be the head gaskets. What do you guys think? My 1st Subaru I am not real happy!!! Arthur

I’ve got some questions about this check engine light crap on my Subie. Sometimes it flashes and stays on when the gas tank is full then goes out when the tank is below half a tank. After reading in my manual about the fuel cap issue I got the light go off. The light came back with the same pattern as before and I Start having cranking issues and a smell of gas when trying to start. I changed a fuel censor and the fuel filter though the problem was solved. Now the damn light is back on with the same pattern as before but without the fuel smell or starting issues. Codes coming off the computer are number 4 misfiring. I drive the car and have not notice it misfiring. Before I spend $150.00 on plugs and wires will someone give me some cheaper options?
