  1. Simpler story, Oslo Lars was the only one who responded through facebook. It cost me about $600 to ship here with my Fedex discount only to find it was the wrong one. Live and learn. but it hasnt been that easy to find yet in the states. Im now going to turn up the heat and start searching more junk yards but thought i would give more attention to the experts here in the different subie boards and networks. Lgbmarco@aol.com if you have any other suggestions for my search..thx
  2. You have an EA81 tranny that you will part with? ok excuse my uneducated response, both to the computer world and the mechanical subaru side as Im an old school guy just working in too many different directions. But im working on it. So if im getting this straight, a tranny has different types of lifters? and if either of these will work, which one is better suited for my pepped up motor thats waiting to be paired with. But to answer the other question, Oslo Lars was the only one who responded to my search and he was kind enough to part it out. Its too bad it didnt work. So, I hadnt been back to this sight in a while, but had posted on the other subaru boards. (old school subaru, classic subaru, and the ultimate board all off of facebook.) so again, contact me in email if you have something i can use. Lgbmarco@aol.com...thx
  3. Ok, im starting back at chapter 2. Im trying to convert my 1980 2 dr front wheel drive coupe DL. When the block cracked, I decided to convert the system from an EA71 to an Ea81. Chapter 1 found the Ea81 engine, should run great. First half of chapter 2 shipped a four wheel drive tranny from oslo Norway, to Long Beach, California, USA., that I cant use and am looking to get rid of. So Im back online again looking for an EA81 Front Wheel drive to convert to. Anyone that can help, be on the lookout as the car and the owner are anxious to get rolling. Lgbmarco@aol.com
  4. This GL coupe, 1 of a kind SCC that was introduced in 1980, had seen better days and tossed around like a rag doll within the family. But when the heads went bad, it was time time to scrap it or rewrap it back to life. I guess it means too much to me so im back in for the rebuild. but in looking for a little kick in the gas, Ive restarted by acquiring an EA 81 motor and now needs a matching Ea81 tranny to replace the Ea71 front wheel drive it came with. I understand there are slight positional modifications and will listen to all suggestions. but first i need the tranny. Anyone out there that knows of one laying around, working or able to be reconditioned, let me know. Thanks for the assist. # 67 of the 100 will be glad to hear from you. Anyone else ever had one of the 100?
  5. Q#1..has anyone here have one of these or know anyone who ever owned one. basic mechanics of the car are the same as any 1980 coupe. This model was (at the time) supposed to be Subaru's coming out of the dark ages party car. They took 100, decaled them up after painting them black, gold pin stripes, 6 spoke alloy alum, trunk rack, fog lamps, etc Q#2..once and for all, explain the difference between GL and DL models. paperwork says one thing but over the years mechanics say another. Q#3. My engine has finally run its course and my be dead. My 19 year old over heated the car and my have cracked the already over extended head gasket. Is there a retired or old school mechanic that can help me out. Im in Long beach California
