  1. yes the tcase I have now is 2:1 but I will probably pull it and regear to something like 4:1...
  2. Well hopefully my hybrd hydro steering idea will work out and save me alot of time... I hope I am inspired enough to document everything pretty closely and maybe set up some jigs so I can reproduce what I am making incause others are interested... A good friend of mmine will be helping me with the entire setup and he has one if not the most built Nissan rigs east of the Mississippi , he is very damn knowledgeable and his fabrication quality is awesome... So maybe I can get him into of the idea of fabricating and producing some things for subarus....
  3. Wow I really like that rig of DeathHatch's, from the photos it doesn't look like the driveshafts were in nor was there steering, does anyone know if this thing runs and drives? Guess I will be sending him a pm later on...

Well I have considered the power I will be needing and the torquey RS motor seems it will do the trick considering my friends nissand v6 has just a hair more horsepower and torque... if need be it can get a supercharger or maybe a flat 6 in there but I just dont think I want to go much higher on the d/r tranny... and considering the gear ratio on the diffs would be at least 5.29's and a 4-1 sammy Tcase I dont think I will have a low end problem, at least it wouldn't seem that way from what I am seeing now, tires probably wont be any larger than 35x12.50... But none the less its still a work in progress that wont get a major undertaking until mid to late October and we shall se how it goes then.... everyon thanks on your input so far...
  5. The later is what I had planned to some extent, with a little modification and making the setup a bit beefer.... However my friend who is more the expert doesn't believe it will work and thinks the tierods are to small and will break, so he thinks I should run the box.... Last thing I want is something dangerous to me and more importantly others..
  6. I think my biggest issue will be swapping the 99 RS eingine and then figuring out the steering... Me and my friend are in conflict on how to do the steering, I want to run a modifide rack and pinion just because it would be a little less work but my friend who is more the expert says I should run a gearbox, I just want to take the path of least work for the moment...
  7. I love it I actually plan on having mine a bit higher with longer wheel base and wider stance, but only time will tell...

I already have a cust fram underneath the body and a sammy Tcase... set up now is... 6inch lift sammy tcase 4.111 diffs, rear welded and front lsd 6 x5.5 lug conversion 15inch Enkeis 29x10.50 super swampper tsl's etc.... I just have a good hardcore offraoding crowd around me and I am ready to go to the next level, 16 inches of articulation and independent supension just isn't cutting it any more....
  10. Yeah I have read about some solid rear swaps but nothing front... I just want to know what I am up against so I can maybe push the bar a little higher... I know a guy with some toy axles with 5.29 detroits front and rear, that would work perfect if only I can get him to take the time and yank them from under his scrapped project...
  11. After hours of reading and searching the board I cant find any confirmation that anyone has a solid axled swapped subaru, at least not front and rear... It seems a few have tried or started the project only to abandon it for whatever reason... I just want to know if there are any front and rear swapped solid axle subaru's running around before I commit to my build...

  16. I try and stay away from the interstate buy highway and around town everything is fine... Having the limited slip is really nice but I would prefer to have it up front and have welded or locked gears in the rear... When off roading having the dual range and the t-case is amazing... Though I did manage to break your welds on the t-case brackets but no worries its back in place

  19. Thought you'll might appreciate my wagon after the driveline has been finished along with the exhaust... Got it from "subaruloverbrad" a few months ago... He really did a great job on the lift... And just a heads up it will be for sale shortly for anyone who may be interested just let me know and I will keep you posted...
  20. yeah if its a dual range etc.. just through it in nuetral and place the transfer case in FWD and ur good to go on a dolly... I was skepttical at first but i just bought one and had to tow it 20 miles and it worked no problem...

  22. Thanks for the link I will check it out... As for the lights I will probably get on that this weekend... Im pretty good with electtrical circuitry and such so I dont think it will be to much of a hassel... I dont have the owners manual for the vehicle so can anyone get me a link or something to where I might find fluid specifications for the car... I plan on flushing everything out and given here are new lubzzz... Thanks
  23. OK thanks for the feedback, Im really excited to hear that the reseal will probably fix the problems... Honestly thas what my instructor said but I wasn't %100 certain... Were might I go about finding a reseal kit? Anyone on here a vendor soo to speak or should I just go down to the local parts store... I'd also like to pick up a repair manual if anyone could point me in the right direction, seems to me the parts stores dont have one.... Also, where might I go about finding a lift for the car, of course I hear all about BYB on this site but is there any other competition... I think ive heard of another but not certain.... As for the XT dont know the year yet but I will find out in a couple weeks when I return for summer classes.... Thanks, Caleb
  24. Not really But I just picked up an 85' RX today , pretty damn cheap too... I had been pestering the hell out of one of my instructors all semester to sell it to me and he finally did $260... He says it needs a new front cam seal, lifters and that it has a tendency to lose oil pressure... I talked to another one of my instructors that used to work on subarus for a few years and he believes the only thing wrong with it is the seal and that the lifters are fine... Either way I figured it was a good deal and I was even offered a titleless XT with only head problems for a $100, which I think I will snatch up in a couple weeks... The car itself is in decent condition only 121Kmiles... everything works except the normal driving lights, (high beams are operational), the body has some rust and one of the windows has been leaking so the car has a wonderful mold/mildew smell mmmmm mmmmm.... Anyways I dont know exactly what I plan on doing with the car... I mean I love the FWD, 4HI, 4LO so Im thinking about making it into some fun for the of road... I have seen some pics of lifted subies but have yet to see a RX like this one... If so where can I find it? Also, I honestly dont know much about the car yet so what would be some good first mods to the car? Ive heard the exhasut is really limiting and doesn't allow it to breath... Any input would be a great help, I cant wait to get it running perfect and keeping it well maintained...
  25. Im in High Point, NC the RX is a red sedan with black stripping down the side guessing that it is a 85 or 86... I am in no rush to buy it because I am the only one that has any interested in buying it, well that is im the only person with intrest that knows were it is... But I do plan on buying it sometime within a couple months and have it as a daily driver/rally car...
