  1. I had a similar problem in a 91 loyale had the signs of dead battery or screwed stsrter click click click. After a charge then later a starter inspection a head scratch l installed a button turn key on push button. Worked great no problems. After some investigation l think my start in gear switch (auto) clutch switch was the culprit. A quick way to see if its a electrical gremlin is go to relay on starter and give it 12v. If it cranks you have gremlins.
  2. Ya l researched it what was said made sense in way. Not able to grasp the chemistry i'll take there word tho. When l got the car it had a surge issue an gutless as hell basically carboned up an choking on it own oil l reinstalled egr after a good clean seems to work. If l can help with our impact on the planet l will. I often wonder how many times we've blown ourselves back to the stone age.
  3. 93' 4x4 5spd Loyale, 91' gauge cluster ash tray light ect,6 freeway blasters, ahooga horn,P600x4 driving two PPS4-8 in back doors PPS4-6 up front with tweets and crossovers from T16-S's and a P2002 driving two P3D2-10 subs love my rockford fosgate
  4. I've been trying to figure out how a egr cools the heads (plural) when it's plumbed into one head an inducing hot exhaust back into the intake i've believed get the heat out of a engine in anyway you can and cool the intake charge down as mutch as you can. I call myself a HD diesel mechanic but have been head mech in a car shop but don't hold a ticket in any. I've been back on heavy equipment for a decade now. I love all mechanical and spend most of my time in my shop. Did some research apairently egr's are on the side of good not evil im gona get mine working funny ive been running with a hot head for 50+years maybe l need a egr.
  5. Points taken l like the catch can idea an will use it my cat was plugged mainly l think to the oil from the breather it was bad even running down and soaking the air filter as for egr it was carbon up open it went in steel bin and l have to say if l can get 2hp more out of a engine that at 30 years old has 70-80 hp i'll take it. This loyale l picked up for 200.oo came with new plugs wires , timing belts, TP sensor 2 sets of rubber over 70% mainly because it didn't run right was told it was for parts all it needed was the above deletes or fixes tweeks solutions to a problem put it anyway. Hats off to guys out there that can keep a old car tip top stock but its my daily driver backed up by four parts cars as ive got 6 grandkids I'd rather spend money on them l'd post a pic but have no idea how supposed to insert or somthing.
  6. If your refering to deleting my egr as increasing my cly temp how does that work as its used to speed up warming up the engine then shut off? If you drive in water past your cv,dif, eng seals and finaly to your air box well....l won't say what l think but it rhymes with tool. I vent my drivers head into my air box with a push on filter on right head l also charnge my oil soon as it gets dark in color. Where l work l use 20-30 gallons changing oil on equipment weekly so its free. I then dump it in a machine. I guess im a polluter gutting my cat but im not buying a new one and l don't really care. I do my best to stay out of the thro away society responsible for the sh#t hole our planet has become. I think l make up for it and don't give a crap what you think. Happy whining Gramr the Hammer
  7. Funny im from Sooke l have a identical white wagon no rust real clean car. I also blocked off egr, vent valve covers, gutted both cats. First l drilled some breathing holes in the air box under the air cleaner now i've gone to a KnN
  8. I'd leave pump on engine pull timing belts to get at it remove pully on oil pump get a small screw and screw it into seal an use that to pull old shaft seal find a deep socket slightly smaller than seal to install new seal. Grease the garter spring in seal to hold it in place don't forget to lube seal an l like a smear of rtv gasket as insurance to hold it in place in pump. If the shaft is grooved just don't put new seal in same spot a little further in l like but be carefull not to far. Saves pulling the whole thing apart.
  9. Try "tire size calculator" on web its real handy to compare different rim sizes combined with tire profiles for the overall circumference.
  10. Blew a engine in the last snow storm had way to mutch fun. So went to my bone yard pulled a good runner, well l drove it to yard. First l changed frnt seals when l tried to turn it over to install second belt came up hard clunk back the other way clunk again what the... thinking l had lost a wrench down hole off with its head. It was a big chunk of carbon as the piston is flat spotted on top it filled the gap between the head an piston. So before pulling a engine apart that is suspected having a foreign body try carb cleaner or sea foam an rock it back an forth.
