  1. Normal noise. I've had ABS on Toyotas (Bosch systems), Saturn (Delco system) and Subaru. They ALL make some sort of "noise" when activated. The first time it happened to me I got very scared. NEVER LET UP ON THE BRAKE UNTIL YOU COME TO A STOP. A friend's wife let up on her peddle when the ABS activated and did considerable damage to some cars and about $3,000 of damage on her new Lincoln. My friend claimed her brakes "failed" but Ford tested the car and found nothing wrong. My friend now buys cars and trucks with ABS and has the ABS systems disconnected. He now claims the ABS caused the wife's accident. Yeah......right ! ~Howard
  2. Does anyone have the instructions to install DUAL POWER OUTLETS in a 2000 Forester ? The Subaru part # is H6710FC000. I want to see how difficult this is to install before I order the part. Thanks in advance for your help ! ~Howard
  3. I think what you are seeing is a self test of the various systems. Mine does that too when I first start-up. All the different systems light up including the ABS. ~Howard
  4. First off thanks to everyone for their help. I replaced the rear 15" Bosch with an Exact Fit brand. It looks like that may have done the trick ! (fingers crossed) Now I know. Cheaper is better for the REAR ! ~Howard
  5. Ditto for NGK. But want to hear a funny one ? The ORIGINAL plugs in my Forester were Champion ! ~Howard
  6. I would also suggest Crutchfield. I used them when I upgraded the speakers and I would use them again if I wanted to replace the radio. If you don't want to attempt the job yourself, I would suggest Best Buy. I got a Pioneer single CD unit, installation and an extended warranty for just under $200. ~Howard
  7. My wife took my Forester in the last snow because she was afraid to drive her Camry in it. I took the Forester back from her this week. She told me the other night that she really missed the Forester in the snow. Looks like I might have convinced her to at least look at an 2005 OBW. ~Howard
  8. I got an Exact Fit 15" for the rear. I'll let you know how it does. ~Howard
  9. I cleaned my hatch lock on my 2000 Forester using PB Blaster. You should have seen all the gunk that came out. I then lubricated it with WD-40 and teflon spray. Once in a while I give the lock a shot of PB Blaster to keep it clean. I did not take anything apart; I just shot the chemicals up into the lock. Link for PB Blaster: PB BLASTER ~Howard
  10. Hummm....What you're saying makes sense. I saw some really cheap blades at Pep Boys. Something like Exact Fit brand. Maybe I'll give these a shot or some equally cheap ones at WalMart. ~Howard
  11. The Bosch is fine on the front but the rear wiper always seems to be a problem. I will check out Lexor. ~Howard :-\
  12. This concerns my 2000 Forester. I'm currently using Bosch wiper blades all around. But the rear blade has developed a "chattering" problem. It makes a hell of a racket and it has gotten worse since it's gotten colder. I also had an Anco replacement in there which was even worse. Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement other than Subaru ? It's a 15" size blade and I would like a replacement for the entire unit (holder too) and not just the blade alone. I found this company on the Internet but I don't know how their product would be either. CLEARPLUS. Thanks in advance for your help. ~Howard
  13. This question involves my 2000 Forester L. Last year I had my mechanic upgrade the front disc brakes to ceramic <Akibono>. What would the equivalent quality replacement brakes be for the rear keeping in mind that they are drum; not disc. Thanks for your help. ~Howard
