  1. YOHY: I once had a 5 year JC Penney battery go 6 years. before it went (R.I.P.). Best battery I ever owned. But what is your secret "maintenance" on maintenance free batteries in the harsh Maine winters ? Care to share this with us ? Thanks ! ~Howard :-\
  2. On my 2000 Forester the OEM battery was a PANASONIC ! Hard to believe. I've never seen Panasonic car batteries on the market. I replaced mine last year with a Diehard Silver. No problems. ~Howard
  3. I found a guy on eBay who sells only the remote cases along with a battery. You just move over the circuit board to the new case and..... B I N G O....a new remote. No reprogramming needed. I didn't bid on Ebay for the cases but I just dealt with him directly. I'll have to get you his web site or e-mail address. ~Howard
  4. Honda CR-V. Parts are cheaper and there is a ton of aftermarket stuff available. ~Howard
  5. The Forester is based on the Impreza while the Outback is based on the Legacy. ~Howard
  6. I had my front pads for my 2000 Forester replaced in the spring with Akibono ceramic pads. The cost was over $200. But the ceramic pads were worth the extra cost. Amazing difference. ~Howard
  7. Skip the dealer and give the nice people at SOA a call. SOA= Subaru of America ~Howard
  8. That's what I heard about the '05 Outback. Crutchfield should know. That's their main business. I'm wondering if there is an upgrade available at the dealer's ? ~Howard
  9. Here's another brand to look at. A friend got these for his Chevy Impala. The model he purchased is made by Dunlop. National Tires My buddy said they were the right price over the nationally advertised brand. ~Howard
  10. You still have to let their claims adjuster look at the car. They won't pay the claim unless you do. The only exception being if the body shop is approved by insurance company then the adjuster is not needed. ~Howard
  11. You will not see them on the Firestone or Bridgestone sites. Tirerack only carries NAME brands; not a company's "store brand" line. You can see LeMans at: LeMans Tires It does look like they are made by Bridgestone/Firestone. By the way Bridgestone owns Firestone. ~Howard
  12. I've been using the Bridgestone Turanza LS-T since last winter on my '00 Forester L. They are a very good all-season tire. My second choice would be the Firestone Affinty. I have these on my wife's Toyota Camry V6 LE. ~Howard
  13. Snow tires aren't possible for me here in Philadelphia. I need somewhere to store the 4 tires that aren't being used. I think my next tire purchase will be the Nokian WR. But I'm a few years away from a purchase. Last winter I put on Bridgestone Turanza LS-T's. ~Howard
  14. Has anyone used the cargo mat available from Weathertech? I've been thinking about replacing the Subaru cargo mat with one of Weathertech's. The Subaru cargo mat seems thin and whimpy. Has anyone replaced the cargo mat in their Subie? Is there another option other than Weathertech? Link: CARGO MAT Your opinion please. Thanks ! ~Howard
  15. Oil has undergone changes in 8 yrs. I would just get rid of it. How much are you saving by using it ? $6.00 or so <$1.50/qt.> ? ~Howard
  16. DR. OUTBACK: I am interested in the 35126FC030 Gear Shift Lever Knob - A/T Forester '98-'02 $26.00 Is this the leather wrapped version ? Does it come with instructions ? ~Howard
  17. I found something better to get the gunk off the windows before you clean them. I used a Dobie Pad on the window with some 91% rubbing alcohol. You should see all the junk come off ! I then cleaned the windows with Invisible Glass. The windows are nice and clean now ! Invisible ~Howard
