  1. All seems to be working OK. I'll just keep a watch on it. Thanks to all who answered. ~Howard
  2. Can someone please tell me how to get the nozzle off ? Or how I would blow some compressed air from the front of the nozzle ? ~Howard
  3. I spoke too soon. I tried the rear washer this morning and it was clogged again! I kept running the rear washer and it seemed to have cleared the clog. Over the weekend I'm going to try the pin and some compressed air to make sure everything is cleaned out. ~Howard
  4. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I used some canned air and blew out what seemed to be clogging the nozzle. All is OK now. It fact it seems to work better than it ever did. ~Howard
  5. BLONDY: Makes sense to me. I'll try some compressed air and the pin. How do you get the nozzle off ? ~Howard
  6. Do you think if I use some WD40 in the nozzle it would break up whatever is clogging it ? ~Howard
  7. COUGAR: Not a bad idea. I'll give it a try later this week when the weather is warmer and dry. Small strand of wire ? Do you think a twist tie would work ? :-\ I think I have some compressed air around here somewhere. ~Howard
  8. My rear window washer is not working properly on my 2000 Forester. The fluid comes out of one side; the other side appears to be clogged. This happened during the winter and I thought one side was frozen. Then it started working again so I just left it alone. Now the problem is back. Washer fluid is in the system now and has been used all last fall and this past winter. The fluid bottle almost full. Any ideas how the nozzle part comes off or what might be causing the problem. HELP ! ~Howard
  9. The Diehard Silver that I had was OK. It did not fail but kept venting that white chalky stuff. I did not want to go through a winter around here with a old battery. Getting stuck somewhere especially at night or missing the train going to work is no fun. Plus the strange turn signal problem made me want to replace it before winter got too bad. I feel I got my money out of the Diehard Silver but I would never get another one. ~Howard
  10. My NAPA battery made by Deka was good for this winter. Deka is made by East Penn battery. Whatever you use never use Diehard. While mine was 5 years old (6 yr warranty) it was venting that chalky white stuff all over. No matter my mechanic or I used it just came back. At times with my headlights and turn signal on, the headlights would go out once in a while while completing the turn. If I went back to Sears all I would have gotten would be $10.00 or so. I thought enough was enough and called it quits. Diehards are a total POS. On the other hand the AAA Club battery I have in my wife's Camry is doing just fine. It's about now 6 yrs old and due to be replaced soon. I don't want the wife getting stuck somewhere. ~Howard
  11. ONE WORD ANSWER: WARRANTY. ~Howard PS: I got a NAPA battery this past December. No problems. They are currently made by Deka.
  12. Alternator whine ? My Forester has a whiney/whistle sound that I've been told is the alternator. Just like your noise it goes away once I take my foot off the gas. ~Howard
  13. I'm looking to replace the center hub cap on my 2000 Forester. My current ones look kind of beat. They are plastic and the chrome finish is wearing away. Does anyone have a suggestion where to purchase replacements ? I found one place on the Internet; CLICK HERE. Opinions please. ~Howard
  14. I took a good look today at my wheels. It seems that the lug nuts are beginning to rust. Does anyone have a suggestion for replacements ? I went to Pep Boys and they have nice ones ($9 for a set of four) but of course they only had one set. Another Pep Boys nearby did not carry them. Forget Auto Zone. They do not carry them. I don't need anything fancy. Thanks in advance for your help. ~Howard
  15. I have an independent mechanic take care of my 2000 Forester. He's very good and AAA approved. He's located in NE Philadelphia; just a few blocks from Huntingdon Valley. He replaced a wheel bearing, cat conv, and general stuff, etc. I've used him about 17 yrs or so and on various cars. PM me if you need details. ~Howard
  16. Since winter is just about over I decided to replace my Bosch Icon wiper blades today. The replacement blades were free Icon blades I got from Bosch after I complained that the original ones did not hold up. WOW.....what a difference a new blade can make. Plus I replaced the rear blade with a Trico Exact Fit blade. I had a cheapo Auto Zone blade there and that was totally gone too. ~Howard
  17. Now here's the odd part. The weather got warmer and now EVERYTHING woks fine. Maybe the washer fluid I used froze up ? I don't understand that except maybe the fluid separated or was somehow "defective". The sweet mysteries of Subaru ! ~Howard
  18. Thanks for the answers. I'm going to try and clean out the nozzle this weekend once it gets warmer. Question: Can the nozzle be replaced if necessary ? ~Howard
  19. I used the Dunlop SP50's in the latest storm we had here on Sunday/Monday. No problems. I was able to get around. There was some minimal skidding on ice patches but other than that no other problems. I can't wait for Spring !! ~Howard
  20. The Dunlop SP50's are doing OK. I'll have another shot at their snow capability on Monday. We're expecting 5"-10" overnight Sunday into Monday AM with near blizzard conditions. Sounds like real fun ! ~Howard
  21. I'm having a strange problem with the REAR windshield washer on my 2000 Forester. One side shoots out the fluid and the other side seems clogged. Does anyone have a repair or solution to this problem ? Can the nozzle be replaced ? I know it's minor but it annoys me. ~Howard
