  1. Bumping this thread, I'm having issue selecting new v belts. Subaru doesn't offer any oem ones anymore so the ones I'm looking at through AutoZone and such are only listed as single v belts, but I know that the ea82 has the two v belts, one tensioned by the alternator and other by the tensioner pulley. What should I be looking for for the second belt? Would it be a.c. belt and drive belt? Thanks
  2. Funny question, is your friend Joel from Tacoma, WA?
  3. I am planning on upgrading the exterior of my wagon, shining it up and making it "car meet worthy" I was doing a little research, and I had the idea of swapping over the body kit from the 90 Leone rx turbo. It had mean side skirts, front lip, front bumper and rear. I was also thinking about doing a forester spoiler for the top of the hatch, and maybe build my own little diffuser for the rear. Will the rx side skirts and other body parts fit? I'm sure I can diy it and make it redneck fit but I know a lot of subie parts for this time range were kinda like building blocks. If they were just as easy unbolt and rebolt thatd be amazing but I don't imagine it'll be that way haha I was also thinking about doing a good scoop, for when do my ej22t swap (that spot in the hood where the spare tire sits looks like an awfully good spot for an intercooler), did any DL/GL vehicles come stock with hoods with hood scoops? Or am I gonna have to create my own? Appreciate any advice, be it negative or positive :))
  4. So a Toyota transmission with an adapter to an ej? Where can one find such adapters? :))
  5. Here's where I bought it from https://www.1aauto.com/subaru-front-lower-passenger-side-control-arm/i/1aslf00530
  6. So I ordered a new control arm for my loyale, to replace the one I broke on my front passenger side. The one I ordered is #1aslf00530, I realized after It got here and I went to pair it with my stabilizer bar #21063ga080, the control arm is not the correct one!!! It is shaped more like a forested or legacy control arm, and has no flat spot with 2 threads to attach the stabilizer bar. I'm even more confused because when I search "Subaru loyale '91 lower control arm" it shows the same exact one. I believe the control arm will fit, but I only ordered one and still have my stock loyale control arm on the left side. I think the one I got is a legacy control arm, but for some reason the website told me it would be a fit for my loyale. The part number for the oem front control arm is #21061GA421 BUT IS DISCONTINUED EVERYWHERE. I have had no luck finding other locales at pick n pulls and junk lots, and am starting to lose hope in finding parts for this car. Should I just get another legacy control arm for the left, and ditch the stabilizer bars? Just stick with the single sway bar? Any help is appreciated
  7. This is what I meant, not sway bar. Got me terms messed up Would the one I linked (which fits a justy) work with my suspension? It looks fairly similar with the strut type rod with two screw holes on the end. Just not sure about the size
  8. Hey! Guess who f*#&ed up their subie? I recently got into an accident, it wasn't major or anything but I bent my passenger control arm way in, my cv, sway bar and stabilizer bar. I've found every part to fix it up, but I found out the stabilizer bar on every single site is discontinued. Is there any other models that will fit my car? It's a 91 loyale wagon, ea82 1.8l Im having major trouble finding parts for this car so I'm thinking about just completely rebuilding the front as a forested front end, and adding a 2" lift kit in the back but I'm not sure. Any ideas?
  9. I'm thinking about doing just a 2 inch lift so I can put bigger tires on it, and eventually upgrade my suspension. I am planning on doing the ej22 swap eventually, the only problem is I need to swap my transmission now because it's going out. I don't want to get another transmission after swapping the ej22 in so I'm hoping to find one I can use with ea82 as well as the ej22.
  10. Thank You! I appreciate the info you guys are extremely helpful
  11. Why are you advising that? Would the fwd setup just not be great for handling the power output?
  12. Another question, My loyale is fwd, with the option of 4wd with the push button. I've been pondering this idea for a little, but I'm not sure how well it'd work out. I thought it'd be pretty cool to set up the drivetrain almost in reverse, having the loyale in rwd for daily driving and drifting, with the option of the 4wd for taking it offroad. How would that work out?
  13. I was looking at an old gl wagon '87, they have the 4wd hi lo dual range, but would it hold up to the power of an ej22 when I eventually upgrade? I do plan on turning the loyale into an offroader, so from what I've seen a dual range transmission with hi lo would probably be best for that setup. I'm no expert yet though so hit me with that advice!
  14. Hello! I have just came across a '91 Subaru Loyale. The tran is a manual 5spd with push button 4wd, and I've been noticing that it's popping out of 1st and 3rd gear, as well as grinding and making plenty of noise in the gear box while shifting. I was thinking about getting a new transmission out of a donor car, but I'm not exactly sure what transmissions will work with my ea82. I was doing a little research and I think the dual range 5mt transmission would work, but I couldn't figure out if I would keep my push button 4wd active. I am also planning to upgrade to a 2.2 ej22, so I was hoping to find a transmission that would fit my ea82, as well as fit (and maintain the power of) the ej22. Is this possible?
