  1. to Crazyeights Good call. Engine sits in the engine bay opposite of auto engine compartment, front is back-back is front. After looking in repair manuals for firing order finally got plug wires in proper order. Problem seems to be in wiring of distributor. My coil might be wrong type, it requires a ballast resistor. Not real sure if right coil for distributor. I replaced ea82 with ej22, more HP. My old ea82 did not have a ballast resistor. I think this might be part of the problem, getting distributor wired with ballast resistor. To add to my problems I live in remote Alaska. Only 700 people here with no auto mechanic or parts supply local. 300 miles to nearest town, by airplane or boat, not interstate highway.
  2. Good day to all. I have a home built 20' hover craft with EJ22 for power.. I am having trouble to get it running. It has been converted to Weber 34/34 carb with the mid 80's distributor from a Ford Escort. No ECU or fuel injection. I have got the engine to pop a few times but will not run. Seems as if distributor might be off. The key way on the end of right-side cam has only one place for distributor key way to fit. Is there something I am missing ?? Thanks in advance for any and all help. Hovercrafter
  3. Help, help, help !!!  I installed a late 90's ej22 in my 20' home built hovercraft.  One of, stand alone system.   Previous engine was an ea82, not enough power.  I am having trouble getting ej22 to start.  This engine came from CCR in Colorado.  New rebuilt with conversion to carb and distributor.  Dosen't seem like the dizy is in the proper angle position.  Get occasional fart and pop from engine, but will not run.  Is there anyway to get more degree position from distributor ?

I am located in Yakutat Alaska, a remote Tlingit fishing village 225 miles northwest of Juneau Ak.  Not a lot of support here, no mechanics or parts stores,  lots of depending on your own knowledge. I  need all the help I can get.  My son is helping me , but he to is a shade tree mechanic like his dad.  I hope you might have some ideas.  I will just keep on keeping on here till I am flying again.

    Thanks for any help
