  1. Just a general question about rear rotors ... changing rear pads on 2006 Outback wagon (pad indicator squeling so it's time) .. inspected rotors good shape no signs of warping .. took out a set of calipers to measure rotor thickness in each quarter --> .390" - .400". Do you ever have to change rear rotors, will you even detect "runout" on them and if so what is min spec is for rear rotors ?
  2. Does anybody have a diagram for a 2.2 L '98 Legacy wagon (manual Trans) showing rear disk brake assembly ... need to see how emergency brake cable is terminated. Thanks ...

  3. Does anybody have a copy of TSB 063103 re ABS for 2002 Imprezas?

  4. Greeting everyone ... sometimes you run across a design that makes you wonder what the heck the Engineers were thinking . I had the drivers side front Daytime Running Llightbulb go out on my 2002 Impreza Sport. So pulled the battery out to get to the headlight assembly to replace the bulb. Wallah!.. the dome and socket assembly for this light are located behind a body partition and the only way to change it is to pull the whole headlight assembly .. %$#@!. Seriously thought about just letting it go but per previous threads it is a safety feature that, with my luck, may prove important. Anyone have a pictorial showing where the mounting hardware is for the headlight assembly + words of wisdom? Oh yeah ... Happy New Year everybody!
  5. I notice that in some of the newer owners manuals they don't post the wheel nut torque .. interesting! I would like to know what the minimum safe value is .. if any of you have wives or daughters that actually would attemp to change a flat you have to give them a chance .. or should you??? Also for alloy wheels all of the manuals emphasize that you recheck the torque .. is this a safety precaution or will this actually change after intial tightning?
  6. Everybody... thanks for this thread! We have 4 Subies - Wifes' 2006 Outback Wagon, My 2002 Impreza, Daughter's 2001 Forester, and Son's 1998 Legacy wagon. I had knock sensor go bad on Forester .. daughter replaced @ $125. I noticed CEL on in Impreza - dealer advised replacement cost $265! Forget about it! Went to Genuine site ordered part and thanks to you guys will replace over w/e @ 1/3 cost? You guys are like farmers .. outstanding in the field! Just have to learn about clearing ECM codes...
  7. Mission accomplished! ... Kudos Ferret, Kudos! .. this website is what the internet should be all about! ..... Quack! Quack!
  8. Help! I know this question has been asked before but her goes (again)! Is there anybody out there that has a good diagram of the the rear drum brake assembly for a 2001 FORESTER L? Had to replace a bad rear left drum brake cylinder and am now in the process of 'buttoning' everything back up. However when you work on brakes you want to be sure! Need diagram showing location of tensioner fork, sprocket, and adjuster lever, and springs? Any help would be appreciated! AS you know Murphy's law will probably cause me to "fish around" for the adjuster level on the other drum to back the shoes off if I try to look at the opposite side for comparison (PITA) .. so a diagram would be much appreciated! Thanks.
