  1. GD do you think this massive vibration may be bad DOJs and not carb related? I just ask this as it seems to be acceleration dependant.
  2. keep torqueing at 75 ft-lb and you will be doing more as mentioned the tirque is wrong it should be 125 ft lbs please search the subject for verification.
  3. loosen the tranny mount bolts /nuts to let it move back a bit?? I will assume the dogbone is not fitted yet
  4. I second what Nipper says 100% If you find major toast the EJ22 swap if you choose this route is about half done.
  5. This being the case..vacuum is present. Might want to check the check valve in the vacuum storage container on the shelf behind the pass strut tower. (white plastic cylinder) If all is good... My bet is a cable acutator is loose. Sounds like it's stuck in re-circulate mode also.
  6. Does this count?? Video in action thanks to SubaruBrat http://www.subarubrat.com/PICS/carlisleskip.MPG
  7. That's cool G, and as B&J used to say "Thanks for your support" (wrong beverage correct inference) Picture thanks to Porcupine
  8. Thanks for the FYI G. Notice the "EX -home" We brew Sam Adams now in the glass lined tanks with mountian spring water. FYI we also lost Mr. Rodgers but not to AB
  9. they are just a fine mesh screen you could pull the pan and look at it Might get lucky??
  10. Poop, Tex is right on about the Sintra. I made the dash extension in Willy out of Sintra (I also work in the sign industry) Sure enough as Tex says, the top warped like crazy. How about a machine turned finish?
  11. I second what GD says. And will add: Welding over head is going to be a challenge. Practice practice practice on the ground first. Learn to watch and move the puddle. Car ramps for all four wheels might get you high enough. Jack as GD says and put the ramps under the tires. I know you'll lift the carpet again before welding the frame rails.
  12. Thanks GD, I surmised that from your reply. My sarcasm is not proper, I apologize. It sure would be kewl if these guys that want help tell us for what. There are some people like you, that work on other cars - not just the one in their profile. I was going to get a picture for him as I have an SPFI manifold in the shop.
  13. It's in the linkage on the pass. side of the carb. Wait now wait, tell you what about what for what? Are you sure the choke is not stuck on. Take the top off the air cleaner and look at the plate with the engine at op temp. Wait now wait, tell you what about what for what? Maybe the idle mixture wants adjusted. Small screw front lower part of carb - factory blocked by a pin. Wait now wait, tell you what about what for what? Is your exhaust furnace connected and operational? (thermo vacuum motor in carb snorkle) Wait now wait, tell you what about what for what? Sheesh ;^)
  14. Sorry Major, I was just showing how to get the connector off. As G says that is the AAV which has the same type connector and boot. The manifold picture as G points out is correct. Sorry for the corn-fusion, again. The resistance chart is give below if you care to test it. . Bout done trying to help as it seems I muck it up more than help
  15. the passing switch is under the dash your spare TPS may be from a vane type MAF I'd start looking at the exhaust being plugged or maybe the fuel filter
  16. ML, you're most welcome, glad it helped The thermometer is for the dash gauge not the Fuel Injection system (ECU) The contacts in the FI Coolant Sensor corrode, like in the picture. It sits, as you see, vertically. The boot cracks from the heat in this area, water enters and sits in the contact well and well you see the result. Grossgary solders his wires on to prevent this corrosion. Getting the plug off can be a pain, here is how I hold the clip open for removal, it can be tested after getting the connector off.
  17. Clean it with carb or FI cleaner. 12 Volts (battery voltage) on the plug, from fuse #12. These plugs are tuff to get off sometimes. I use two pieces of 18 AWG solid core wire inserted under the clip. It pulls off after doing this. Seen here on the other type AAV Hope this helps.
  18. Not on this car, you read them yourself. See this site, do not be confused buy the opening line it is for your car http://www.troublecodes.net/Subaru/ also Have a look at the FI coolant sensor connection
  19. seems I've spelled "seams" incorrectly? The pictured pulley is what happens when the bolt is not tight enough (incorrect torque given in FSM). The pulley slips, the keyway key machines the pulley, and well... it don't charge or have power steering afterwards. The key is pretty toast to, imagine that! For the life of me I can't figure out why only 0.500" proturde into the pulley. When the bolt gets loose the pulley wobbles and takes it's self out. Word has it the keyway and key only locate the pulley. It is kept from slipping mostly by the torque of the bolt causing the friction factor from the abutting surfaces. Thus coating these surfaces (shaft, back of the pulley, and the side's of the bolt's washer) with lockite provides some extra "locking". This could be what has the AE's pulley stuck on.
  20. just another thought the alt must put out some serious current just after starting to re-charge the bat. belt swap -> put the old one in the smuggler's locker. Just had one break on my 94 Legacy wagon, went to the locker, back in action in less time than it took to type this. (well almost) Don't forget to loosen the lock nut in the tensioner before cranking on the adjustment bolt.
  21. Okay Bill, hope this helps. The other shot fits on this section of the manifold. Sorry for the grease and grime, hope your's is cleaner. Also hope G stops by to certify this picture
  22. So you bought Jule's wagon. Believe me when I say this, not too many folks here have tried this. Your best bet is http://bbs.legacycentral.org/ Those guys specialize in Legacys and mods. Next you might try http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/ Those dudes are always trying new stuff to make "Mo Powr" Good luck with it, looks like a fine start with some real nice potential.
  23. No Bill it's not that. At my school of higher learning, Mind Reading 101 will not be offered until next semister. ;^)
  24. Sorry again Bill, I was having a bad moment. I am "all about" pictures, like you, sometimes a page full of diatribe can be shown with one anotated picture. (IF it's correct, luckily we have good techs here like Gloyale to catch mistakes mad by well to do'rs like me) 12 deg F right now, hoping it will warm up a bit and I'll go out to the shop and see if there is one of these in inventory. I'm pretty sure I know what G is talking about just need to see if one of the spider sets ups I have has it.
