  1. Hehe you’re gonna get a lot of that. Basicaly it was me scanning pages as fast as I could and keeping them if they came out clear and with the bottom page number on as well. You’re gonna have to zoom and squint a bit and maybe tilt your heat but the data is there in detail. It sure beats guessing and lets us muck around in places we have no business belonging in but if it means you can do nearly mechanic-shop level fixes without paying shop rates or crossing your fingers on a junk-yard transplant then it’s all good. the manual was thrashed so I was trying to be careful, I’ll consider it my good deed for the month
  2. https://www.dropbox.com/s/01ydgg778w47bsd/Subaru%201600%201800%201982%20service%20manual%20%28partial%29.pdf?dl=0 can someone see if this works?
  3. I’m loading it to Drop box now. It’s not the FULL fsm but more than I’ve found. I can try to add to it in the future but I need to borrow the manual again and I don’t know how many times I can ring that bell. I don’t know anything about torrents but will see.
  4. I’ll see what I can do. I got up to chapter 11 (transmission stuff) and then copied I think 18 which is the transmission linkage. Its on my phone right now. This week I got a dead friend, a dying German Shepherd , and I think I’m getting in a divorce. May take a few days to figure it all out.
  5. Taaaaking that as a no ;). If anyone searches and sees this I have about 400 pages scanned.
  6. Decided to go track down one for myself. Garage that is putting the clutch in my WRX let me take theirs home for a couple days. I’m busy scanning it with my phone. It will actually come out pretty good all things considering. Used to use this app for work and manuals there. Is anyone interested in a copy? It’s about 900 or so pages long and is going to be a monster .pdf i should have it mostly done tonight
  7. Where can I find diagrams or prints for an EA-81 manual dual range transmission? torque specs would also be great. I’ve searched for the last three days and have had zero luck. About to go start bugging transmission shops.
  8. Hey does anyone have a spare EA81 dual range transmission laying around? I did not take pictures of a spot I should have. On the top of the transmission there is a rectangular panel that covers the linkages to engage the back two wheels. If I could get some good shots of that it would be great. You can email or text me anderson3510@gmail.com 3603208303 Thanks
  9. Man I’d love to find a replacement four speed. That’s getting harder and harder. I’m looking though.
  10. I get it, the issue is that I’m on a time table. I’m looking to sell this car and want it running safely and properly prior to doing so. The sooner it is running the sooner I can get my wrx in the garage and change out the totally wasted clutch in it. It’s slipping all over the place. Once I’m down to two cars I can get the paint restored on my wife’s car and start garage parking it. Then she’s happy and I can put together a motorcycle and restore it. I know what you’re saying but if I can open up the transmission and put in some new synchros I’ll be happier than tracking down a new transmission and going through the associated drama with that. At some point I’ll get another old subie but my use for it is starting to fade now that my dog is old. Right now I just want to sell it and feel like I’m not screwing someone over.
  11. A) I may have synchro issues b) and then I’m going to be dealing with adapter kits, mismatched clutches and tears.
  12. Okay I see that now. I must have picked this clutch up for my 2wd DL years ago. Thought I could get lucky. Oh well. Heh, anyone want to trade??? I’ll start cleaning and inspecting stuff this week as it’s clear I’ll not be ready to install anytime soon. Lets talk transmission guts? I’m a technician but not an automotive one. If I open that transmission: a) with the availability of parts for these cars will I be able to actually repair anything. B) will I bite off more than I can chew from the moment I open it? I have access to a pretty stocked factory shop and some smart folks if I need to. What do your folks suggest?
  13. Pulled the transmission. The replacement clutch I have is the wrong size even though online it says it’s a match. Existing clutch disc is around 9” replacement is 7 7/8” the pressure plate is quite smaller as well. A bit frustrated right now. Any ideas? When I look up clutch info it keeps giving me this 7 7/8 size. Gonna resize some pics and stop for the day. Tomorrow I’ll just start degreasing everything.
