  1. Man I feel you there-- I have a 1993 impreza in south texas with all sorts of odd weather, rain one hour, 100 degree heat the next, and I SHREDDED the rotors due to the heat and driving style; but my impreza has 128000 miles on it (possible original rotors). I have heard of certain european cars (new beetle) that have had the brakes give out as early as 3000 miles- and that's with clutch failure with the manual tranny. Those cars weren't made in europe though, but in mexico to cut labor costs, and to make more money. I sincerely hope that subaru is not doing that, because this 1993 subie is my first and I wish to keep with subaru for long time. My opinion is to go to a "mom and pop" shop that is ASE certified and explain your predicament to them; I used to work for one and I have seen near every problem fixed that often the dealer indirectly causes. I am saying that the dealer IS AT FAULT and you should get a second or third opinion.
  2. I have an idea: how possible is it to use EJ20, EJ22, and EJ25 parts on an EJ18 block?? like some input on this, it's bugging me because if it works lots of decent power for cheap---I HOPE..... Help me out with this people because I am going to school soon and (no offense) like to take my subie up there. The school is in Indianapolis, by the way.. Parts I am asking about: the intake manifold the exhaust system ignition system anything else i forgot it's late and I have to go work early tomorrow and this is BUGGING me to no end. A friend of mine told me( he is a domestic USDM guy) that it is possible but he doesn't know much more, I got his wheels turning- so to speak- my idea is bugging him now. help some car guys out???
  3. the B9 is alright-- BUT I am not a SUV fan at all. I wonder why subaru is trying to enter that market so late... answer me this and I will show TWO skylines who don't streetrace!
  4. I have a manual Impreza L (1993 though) with the EJ18 engine, truthfully though, through the research I have done, all of the subaru engines should link up properly with your 1997 - I have a feeling that some legacy engines might not. but your question about manual / auto engines, that's the transmission - the engines link up to them all ; you haven't been told the EJ20 links up to most transmissions? Your 1997 impreza shouldn't be a problem... by the way though - I wouldn't mind seeing the aftermath of your work. Brad
  5. I am thinking about Rallitek.com, I looked over the catalogue-- very interesting indeed...
  6. I have a 1993 impreza L ( it's front-wheel drive- yeah I know...) I am wondering if the tranny and drivetrain from the AWD impreza would work in a transfer or would the 1993 outback sport work?? also is there good performance parts sites out there for my car -- Am I going to have to do an engine swap? I don't have the money for that! btw I am in San Antonio show me the cameraderie
