  1. Hey guys, I joined this site back in '02 when I was a stupid 18yo with a 92 fwd slushbox Loyale... hopefully I'm a little wiser now and not as annoying. I now have an 05 GTO and 95 escort, and with the escort on its way out, I'm thinking of going back to my roots for a DD... only this time I'm going to do it right with a stick shift and 4wd. Another Loyale is most likely due to supply and demand, though I would prefer a Brat or Hatch, to be honest. At any rate, I'm going to be poking around the site, getting re-acquainted and enjoying it. Cheers!
  2. haven't recieved the report in the email... could you try sending it to kortze@jlab.org ? my juno account seems to be acting up right now
  3. if anyone out there still has a subscription, could you please run a check on 5TEWN2N63Z259903 for me? my email addy is gsmcret3@juno.com thanks! Jim
  4. man, i didn't get my april copy in the mail yet
  5. whatever the problem was, i've read subaru corrected it for the '03 and up model year... it's unique to '02 trannies alone. thanks for all of the info/ suggestions folks... it seems the car will work out just fine for my girl, as we're not going to abuse it. hopefully she'll buy it.
  6. holy crap! let me know how you like that megasquirt! i work with the guy who created and sells the megasquirt, Al Grippo. I'm sure he'd like to hear of his product going to good use. definitely keep me up to date though, because once i finish my degree i plan on getting an RX and i want to use the megasquirt to tune it after i mod it.
  7. but I can't seem to find the info I am looking for regarding the 2002 wrx tranny. it's been a long time since i've been on this board and i've tried using the search funtion but i've had no success. i'm a subaru fan, but i'm only familiar with EA-82's. My girlfriend is looking at possibly buying a 2002 wrx, 35K miles on it, 5spd manual transmission. It's owned by it's original owner, my 45 year old neighbor, it's never been abused, etc. And I'm pretty sure it has a couple months left on the original 3 year warrentee. I've heard of a lot of problems regarding the 2002 trannies, but the people who seem to be complaining about them are the ones who modify the cars. I've even resorted to searching NASIOC (yes, I know, laaast resort ) and all I can seem to find is a bunch of 16 year olds crying about blowing their '02's when running 435346546 lbs of boost. What exactly is the design flaw with the 2002 transmission? My understanding is it's something with the syncros? If she gets the car, it won't be modified, not even an exaust, and will always be driven conservatively (neither one of us are into accelerating/driving hard). So, is the tranny so much of an egg that normal driving habits will kill it? It seriously will never be driven hard or abused; i just don't want her to invest a considerable amount of money into a car that's going to fail and cost me many sleepless nights repairing it. Any info offered is greatly appreciated; I'm a pretty knowledgeable guy so you can go into detail about the car and I'll understand it; any website with detailed documentation on the transmission and it's problems would be great. Oh, the guy wants what he owes on it, $15K dollars. He used to be a loan officer for a Subaru dealer in the Pittsburg area. I've checked with my bank and ran it's VIN by them and they told me it's worth $18,100. I've also test driven the car once, driving it about 10 miles on small streets and on the highway up to 65 mph, and everything felt top shape, including shifting. Once I have more tranny info, if it's worth buying, I'm gonna pull it into the garage and do a detailed inspection.
  8. i know for a fact that it's an automatic... so i guess that eliminates it... i'll still look at it but i already didn't have high hopes...
  9. I'm going to an auto auction Friday and on the list of cars there is an '87 XT. All i know is that it's automatic. I'll know more about condition/what it has on friday. Could someone help me out... what options were offered on the XT in '87? Were they available in Turbo? AWD? If it's just a front wheel drive auto non-turbo then im not going to get it... I'd rather have another wagon. But if it's turbo and/or AWD i might pick 'er up...
  10. would you happen to know how much bumpers go for there? i need to get out there and pull some bumpers off of a charger that they have there for my '85 plymouth turismo... but i dunno if i have the $ at the moment to justify going. it sure would be nice to see my baby one more time tho b4 she got crushed. :-(
  11. Hey guys, Fireboy401 from the old board here. It's been a couple months now since i posted... here's why... The death of my poor baby... rear ended on I-664N right at the interchange to I-64W in Hampton, VA. I was completely stopped in traffic and the guy behind me hit me at approx. 45mph. the entire frame of the car was rippled. I myself suffered a fractured back. So that's the end of my adventures for now... i took the 2 grand i got for the car and bought my aunt's '96 Monte Carlo off of her. I figure if I'm going to go American, I might as well do it right and go Chevy. Eventually when I have a couple grand sitting around, there will be an old turbo 4WD wagon with a 3" lift sitting in my driveway... but until then, everyone have a great time O/R! EDIT: Appearantly you all found my wagon... it was moved to U-Wrench it in Virginia Beach...
