  1. got some decent snow here. 6-10"? i've been trying to be a little softer on my only form of transportation. but whe the snow hits, so does my 4wd craving.
  2. yup. definitely crackhead idea. whats funny is the fact that the guy actually is a crackhead. not rock cocaine but that goddamn meth. he's got a thousand+ ideas just like it.
  3. so....it's partially true. looks like this guy isn't as full of $hit as he seems to be. don't worry, i'm not gonna go dump brake fluid in my engine.
  4. i was wondering if you guys have some tips or anything that would help me out while i replace a fuel pump on a '93 impreza. I'm pretty sure that i have to drop the tank. what is the relative proceidure here? thanks all
  5. i think you're missing the whole point. i have an ugly rump roast old beater wagon. I think it's hilarious. Can't afford the STi, but i can afford the badge. ha
  6. this guy and i were talking subaru when he brought up the subject of oil leaks. He told me that the next time I add oil to my ea82 that i should pour in a couple tablespoons of brake fluid. he told me that it will expand the gaskets and help my oil leak subside a little. Is this true?
  7. any bright ideas about fixing the interior handle after they split in half? i don't think that it's even possible to replace the handle. I'm just not in the mood to deal with putting another cable in.
  8. I think we could all use one of these performance enhancing STi badges. only $10 at this website i just put my order in. oh yeah
  9. i figure that it's basically a motor mount. if you've ever had loose motor mounts you really notice the tendency to "pitch". i don't think Fuji would've put it in there just to hold the tranny when it's out. plus, it has those rubber bushings. just my spare change
  10. If you are even the sligtest bit mechanically inclined you can pull this off without paying shop labor prices. eaiest to do it with a manual to look t. don't have one? check your local library. i know that every shop i tal to either doesn't tuch soobs or wants $50hr. have fun!
  11. here is a link to fox's website. it oughta work for ya. http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/timingbelt.htm
  12. yeah, i wasn't really looking into an install. i was just curious. i would just love to see the looks on pople's faces when i drive over their Geo in a station wagon. I plan on using 27-28" Swampers or Goodrich Mud Terrains. Whichever is cheaper. I'll still probably be ble to climb a Geo with this setup and my D/R. Buddy of mine when told to watch it or i'll climb his Fiero, "If you can ever catch up to me." Damn, the truth hurts. I need a WRX engine to stuff in my 88. Problem solved.
  13. i saw the title of the post and couldn't resist. if you really need the room to park it i have PLENTY of room. just pay for shipping to 82601:D
  14. I've been reading up on the divorced transfer case mod and was left a little confused. How does this work? What parts are needed? I'm looking to be able to crawl well with some 26-28" tires. Would this even be a cost effective idea or should i just leave the gearing stock. The wagon came with the D/R and 3.9 in the diffs. Thanks for helping me out
  15. i think that here in Wyoming they have the most laxed standards in the U.S. I wouldn't be surprised. There are no tests or inspections at all.
  16. it's not very urgent. i have driven with a slight tick for several thousand miles. sounds like you're wanting to get to it pretty soon though. i'd just wait for it to warm up or maybe wait for some tme when you're in the mood to go at it. good luck, but this is the ultimate subaru message board and you asked the ultimate subaru question. i'd be willing to bet that a great deal of us currently have some clatter under the hood. i just deal with mine becuse i don't realy want to tear into it.
  17. nope, i'll probably just end up checking one at the libray.
  18. i never had a problem with it before. i was replacing a busted rump roast ball joint and it just pulled it out too far. i think that the retainer ring just didn't function and it came out letting the "crown type thing" to come with it. The axle normally moved in and out when i replaced the lower control arm earlier. How doe this go back together? i slid the "crown" back up and tried to insert everything and the axle and DOJ just would't lock up. i need transportation aaagh!
  19. i've always wanted a WRX. way before i'd even driven a subaru. i was shopping for a vehicle for the first time and saw my 88 wagon sittin at the back of the lot for $500. i tested it and was pretty impressed. now it's nearly indescribable how much i love my soob. all the reasons above and most of all, the uniqueness and "funky" points it gets from all my buddies. man they're great. i don't see myself buying anothe make of vehicle for many, many years.
  20. i was just replacing a ball joint and had some trouble with the axle not wanting to go in all the way so i could get it back together. well, i couldn't get it t go back tgether and realized an odd piece of metal inside th boot. i took it off, gotcovered in grease and found that crown loking ring piece that should fit up inside the DOJ. i don't have the slightest idea as of how i can gt this to go back together. what should i do? any useful posts? thanks fellas, Brian
  21. i drove my last clutch until it literally would not move. put the new one in and it felt like i was always hauling rump roast. Ah........................... I heart My Subaru
  22. this method saved me once. i snapped a clutch cable on the way to get free parts. the only problem is getting moving. i was at the bottom of a dead end hill so i had to literally slam it into 1st gear. from there, i just did't stop till i pulled in the driveway.
  23. i got the same type from radiators.com. what you are talking about in the first post is for an auto tranny. just plug them some ay or another. they are not invoved at all with the rest of the radiator, so there is no pressure. i just capped mine to keep the dust out. works just great though. i know i loved my new radiator when i got it in. runs nice 'n cool now.
  24. i'm sure i'll be able to get it back together somehow. i'm out of town right now, so it'll be sittin for a few more days. as always, thanks for the help.
