  1. Hello folks, exist somewhere a list with all subaru-transmission codes?? greets bert
  2. Well hello everyone, I am new here, let me set the scene, about 6 months ago now I saw a Sumo for sale just down the road so me being me I bought it... went to pick it up and no start, anyway it now has an MOT and most things are good, a new set of brake lines and some welding and a bulb or two. The problem is though i think with the carburetor, when changing up a gear there is a flat spot in the fuel input and power drops you have to keep your foot flat to the floor and play the clutch balance game. The carb is a rare model too which does not help it's the Hitatchi HCK34 horizontal single barrel carb, it may not be helping that we suspect the vacuum lines are in the wrong places but with no documentation i can find it is all a guessing game. What I am after is if anyone knows anything about these carbs, where to get some parts? does anyone have one to spare? I have read somewhere that it could be related to an egr but it appears blanked off. any thoughts and or suggestions please. Happy to answer any questions. Also would be willing to sell it to an enthusiast. cheers
  3. Hi subaru folks, I just adquired an '87 Subaru Libero, and apparently the engine block is cracked, so I tryed to find the same engine on my country's (Spain) but since I imported the car from Germany and this car wasn't sold here, there is no chance to find one here. I goggled a little and it seems that this engine ,E12, is the same 1.2cc 3 cyl. block than the used at the Subaru Justy, wich was sold in Spain, I found some of those engines from wrecked cars, but I have some doubts here that you may solve: -The engine codes I found were EF12 instead E12, apparently its all similar, naturally aspirated, carburator, no electronic engine management, so no ecu, etc, but; I would like to know if my gearbox housing is the same, and if I would find any problem with the starter pinions/ring or the cranck size/pinions, etc. Aswell, this EF12 has around 20 more hp, and im guessing if that would cause any issue on the Libero's gearbox. Thx.
  4. Hi all. My name is Magnus and I live in the middle of Sweden. I have a 1985 Subaru Libero (called Columbuss in scandinavia) and I'm having two major problems with it. Most urgent one: The clutch is stuck in it's pressed stage (engine and transmission not connected). This has happend before, and it's not the wire. It's the shaft that pivots the clutch release fork inside the bellhousing that is stuck. Last time, I sloved it by drilling a hole into the bellhousing, heating with a welding torch and thereafter spraying penetratig oil into the hole as i rocked the release lever on the outside until the clutch operated to satisfaction. After that was done, I punched a grease-nipple into the hole, partly to seal the hole, but also to allow one to lube the shaft if the problem ever were to reoccur in the future. Now, the shaft is stuck again and it's negative degrees here (c-grade) which complicates things. I don't have access to a garage, just an electrical socket and my toolbox. My plan is to get a propane torch, heat the bellhousing again, rock the lever and then pump grease in through the nipple, all while the aluminium is still hot. Repeating this a couple of times should fix the problem for a time long enough to move the car to my home (about 55 metric miles). Is this a good plan? The less-urgent one: The car loses power at 30-40% gas, tugs and then hesitates up to speed. I've done most checks that many experienced mechanics have come up with, but still have some things to check: -What's the symptoms on the engines vacuum-reading if the EGR-system works improperly? -The carburetor is a Hitachi HCK-34, a side draft type, that no one ever seem to have heard of. It seems custom built to fit just this specific car model. Does anyone have experience of a carb that uses a twin-atmospheric pressure system? (Pic from workshop manual available upon request.) Thanks in advance. //Magnus.
