  1. Hey guys, new member here. I recently aquired a silver 87 GL-10 turbo wagon with air suspension and the 3 speed automatic. I essentially got the car for free so I figured if it ran, I'd spend some time and a little money trying to get it running good so I'll have a winter car. It sat for probably 2 years, at least, up in the woods of the northwest. Encouragingly the car started right up with a jump, and it actually drove over 180 miles down to where I live without any needed repairs. So far, the problems I’ve found with the car are limited to the push-button 4WD not engaging( which may be a bad button is all) and more importantly...the air suspension will not lift the car. When I turn the key to ON, the compressor starts running and continues to do so for about 8-10 minutes then shuts off. After it shuts off, the light begins to blink on the dash indicating that there is an error. I’ve found very little technical information on this system that I can effectively use to properly troubleshoot the problem. The little that I have found has informed me that the behavior I just described usually occurs when a leak is present in the system. Because the ride height does not change after 8-10 minutes of the compressor running, the computer assumes there is a leak so it shuts off and projects an error code to the driver. I also read somewhere( and I could have this wrong, please let me know) that the computer will always try to raise the rear of the car BEFORE the front. So, with this in mind I removed the plastic and carpet from the back of the car and checked the air lines for holes. I found out that mice had literally severed the air line going to the passenger-side rear wheel. I bought a couple air-line bridges(blanking out on what they’re actually called) and patched the line. As of right now that’s the only defect I can find in the air system. After fixing that though, the system still does the same thing. It runs for 10 minutes without any change in elevation, and then shuts off leaving me with nothing but a blinking dash again. What I’m hoping for is for someone who has had experience with these air systems to suggest some things to try. Or that possibly someone who has a technical shop manual for the 80’s GL’s could take a gander at the pages detailing air suspension troubleshooting and post some suggestions...maybe even some scans One observation that I’m not sure is important, is that my dad unhooked the middle hose from the compressor that goes to the tank. We noted that he was able to blow air INTO the compressor...which seems like something irregular. But I’m not sure. Maybe it needs a new diaphram? Help me out. Oh and before everyone starts chiming in saying that I should just tear out the air suspension.. I’m not going to put that much work into this car lol Plus, everything seems to be in good condition, the car has 150,000 miles. Thanks in advance guys.
  2. Do they make a KYB gas adjust shock for my 1982 gl 4x4 wagon? I can't seem to find them searching in google. Does anybody know the part number if they are out there? I'm planning in running the KYB excel g/gr2 in the front and i want to run the gas adjusts in the rear. And any suggestions on where to order from? Thanks!
  3. Hey Everyone. I have a '95 Legacy LS. I'm pretty sure it's about time to change the struts. I believe they are original parts on a legacy with 350k on it. I was thinking about putting some outback struts on it, hopefully giving it 1 to 1-1/2 inch lift. Just enough room for a slightly more aggressive tire. I'm not sure if I can just swap the struts out or do I need to swap other parts out in addition to make it all compatible. Thanks for any input you have Travis.

  5. I recently got a 2013 wrx within the last couple months. I plan on leaving the engine untouched to avoid pissing off the dealership guys so I can retain my warranty. Does a replacement of suspension or wheels/tires along with exhaust violate that? She's already tinted, with some rain guards fitted for this friggin Florida weather. What wheels should I go with? Is upgrading the suspension really worth it? Isn't it already a nice suspension? What sort of front tag should I mount on her?
  6. Making up a Xmas gift list and I was considering adding a rear antisway bar and endlinks to the list. or maybe ask for a gift certificate to help pay for one. Just wondering who makes WRX wagon-spec rear bars? Is Whiteline the only choice?
  7. Ok all i seem to see is pictures of lift with what they have on. What I'm looking for is something that looks more aggressive and has better trail capability than stock, without sacrificing handling or MPG too much. And no tire rubbing! This is still going to be a 90% road car. I'm looking at a 2-4 inch lift. what size tires can I run with each without rubbing? a little at full lock on a slant is one thing but otherwise no rub.
  8. Well, it seems to have worked! For how it was done go to: http://www.nagara.co.uk/MakingBushes.htm They're not perfect but they're good enough for a top spring-damper mount.
  9. I recently purchases a beautifully clean '87 GL-10 Turbo equipped with a working Pneumatic Height Control System. Works great, feels great, and looks great... BUT (those of you who are familiar with the system were waiting for that but...) I noticed that when I'm riding on the higher setting (when the system is engaged and the car is fully raised) and I turn RIGHT, there is a knocking wobbling sound coming from the front right wheel. Once I get going straight again, the sound tappers off and goes away until I turn right again. Any ideas?
  10. HI GUYS !!!! i'm new here and my first question is, how can i raise my 1984 Gl Wagon another 3-4 inches to allow for a rugged rim/tire combo? is the best option a lift kit? and whats the best rim/tire setup? keep OFFROAD in mind when answering (snow, mud, sand, water...) the pic of the Subaru below is the GOAL !!! so please help. i've seen posts and discussions regarding "ozified" and "scorpion subaru" lift kits but when i search these, it seems they're no longer being produced or don't exist !!! thank you -Mr. SIX9
  11. Hi, I'm new to my Subaru & was lurking the other day but didn't expect to need to solve a problem so soon! I had a thump, thump that's been getting worse. Looking underneath - the RL tire had parts that should be attached & aren't. It's a 2-3 inch flat metal with pipe attached. In 1st photo, you can see (sort of) that it's sheared off a bit. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Hopefully photos can be clicked on so the details can be seen
  12. Hi Guys & Girls, It is me Again! I got Two Loyales, this question is About the EA82, now "Weberized" The country where I live has very BAD roads; so long time Ago, I had the Idea of Lift "Just a Little Bit" my Subie. I have already changed the Rear Shock Absorbers and the Rear Coil Springs using parts from other brand cars, (as you can Read & See Photos ~► Here) Also, I changed the Front coil Springs, but my Suspension Mods lead my Subie to Sit two inches (2") Taller in the Rear ... So my Subie looks "Weird" ... Despite that I don't use my Subie to off road very often, but since I drive it most of the Time in unpavemented roads and mud is Everywhere; a Little Lift in the front could help to Level both ends... my Front bumper is Too Low ... I have Search over the Internet, and Saw the "Scorpion Lift Kits" (http://www.scorpionsubaru.com) I don't need the whole kit, just something to put between the front shock absorbers (Struts) and the Chassis, to just lift the Front the same 2" (two Inches) I gained in the Rear. Maybe I need Just This Things?: (Lift Blocks) But they told me by e-Mail, that they Don't Sell kit Parts, Just the Whole Kit... ...So I searched more and more... and I did Reached This Site: http://www.sjrlift.com Where a I contacted by e-Mail a Kind Guy called Scott, and he told me that if I put this Front Lifting "Things" on my EA82 Subie: I will need to extend the steering shaft at a local shop. Really I don't Want to do major Job in my Subie, just a Li'l Lift, So I ask him if they got somethin' about just 2" and He told me that he could make a especial Pair of 2" front strut Liftin' "Things". I think it is Good Idea and I want to Purchase those "Things" ... so the Questions of this post is: ► Is it Safe to put 2" liftin' "Things" on my EA82 Subie's front Struts? ► Will the Subie Work Properly? ► Will the Subie be more Dangerous to Drive? ► How did you to fix this situation if you ever have been in something like that? Please, Tell me more about it, and if is Good Idea, or if there are better Ideas... Thank you in Advance. Kind Regards. ► Updated to add the Tags for the New USMB Search System and Update the Web Links.
