My subaru didn't start knocking till recently and I haven't been beating on the motor at all sense I got it so I'm not sure why it is knocking and I checked the oil and it dosnt got any bearing material in it at all and I got great oil pressure any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a couple questions about my 1992 Subaru loyale I just put a alternator on it yesterday drove it around for like 5 minutes and notices the smell of burning plastic turns out the alternator was really hot along with the wire closest to the strut tower in the box right next to the strut tower I am confused and not sure how to approach this. If anyone has any help please let me know! -
Hello! I am considering buying a 1992 2WD Loyale - automatic (134k) w/blown head gasket as a parts car, as its very cheap. Quite a bit cheaper than 4wd parts cars I've found. I own a 1991 4WD Loyale - Manual (398k). I have read about differences in struts, but I don't see other discussions about differences between 2wd and 4wd models. One thing I would like to swap is the entire cat/exhaust, as mine is completely rusted and shot. Input on compatibility of the exhaust, and any other parts, is appreciated. Thanks
