So i recently bought a 1999 Subaru Forester with about 178k miles on it, the car runs good, i was able to get the car for a very reasonable price. The only thing i don't like about it is when I am at a red light or when i first start the car it runs really really crappy at idle. I looked it up and out of all the information i had read it seems like i have to clean or replace the IACV in the car. I don't want to start taking things apart and then not have a certain part or need to replace a gasket so i was just wondering if anyone has a step by step process i could use? or any tips that will help me fix this problem? I bought a '99 Forester at an auto auction. Ran great and in great condition but when I went to drive it home it won't go above first gear. It is an automatic transmission that shifts into drive and reverse fine but just won't shift past first gear. It just reves up. Any thoughts? This is my first Subaru. I checked transmission fluid and level is fine, didn't smell bad. -

installed my own keyless entry a couple years ago, spliced into the radio memory wire (yellow) for power and the relay to my door switch (probably should have just bought a new fob) the board was eventually ripped out one night when the car was broken into. I know to check fuses 9 (under dash) and 30 (under hood) they're both good. anything else I should check before going through the wiring?
