  1. So not too long ago I got this lil fucker for 700 dolares, worked well but hated the rump roast sag so I researched a bit and learned you can throw in outback spring and strut assemblies for a decent lift, plus bigger tires(225/60/15). So I did just that, but during the process I did have to compress the struts with a jack to be able to line up the two bolts behind the hub and cant imagine what the pressure must me doing to my suspension components. This really improved looks in my opinion, but I wanted to go bigger i.e. 215/75/15 tires and another inch spacer. Will that hurt things and what do I need to replace to prevent that?
  2. I may or may not have been drifting around in some snow when I hit a curb inevitably screwing the control arm and leading rod. Ofcourse with my luck 89' GL control arms are a discontinued part. If anyone has a parts GL or any car that has a control arm compatible with mine and is willing to sell it to me I'd be immensely grateful.
  3. So about 8 months ago i crashed and totaled my previous car. after searching through Craigslist i stumbled upon my Subaru GL. She runs great i have some minor work that i need to do. the front windshield is cracked and iv noticed lots of older subarus have the same kind of crack that goes horizontal across the windshield. Anyway just because i decided to type in the car into craigslist and a couple other sites to check its value and see people listing and the worth to be somewhere between 2000-3000. And that is for worn down/ used. Maybe i am naive but to me thats ridiculously high. i have talked to a couple guys at shucks and they said its good because your able to do lots of swaps for the engine ect. I would just like some more info. I paid 500$ dollars for the thing and i do love it. (very reliable, Good gas mileage but i am still surprised. Will anyone please enlighten me on the subject?

  5. Hey everyone, I just bought my first subaru a few weeks ago. Its a 99 legacy sedan L sedan. So far I like the car, I think I lucked out getting a 99 since its the base model but I still have the sunroof/spoiler/alloy wheels combo. Its a 5 speed standard too which is fun since I spent the winter in an automatic jeep cherokee. I paid $800 for the car which has 155,000 miles on it. When I bought the car the man who owned it told me the check engine light was on for a front 02 sensor. When I had the codes checked it turned out it had codes for front 02 as well as a knock sensor. I replaced the knock sensor and it seems to be running more smoothly already. My main question and motivation for posting this thread is this: When I jacked the car up to change the oxygen sensor, the source of my exhaust leak became obvious. I have a fairly significant leak coming from where the header meets the manifold. It looks like the flange is pretty well rusted out. Is it possible that this leak before the 02 sensor could be causing the code? I was thinking of replacing the sensor to see if it would clear the light, but I feel like that might be a waste of time since the leak might be the reason for the code. I was thinking of ordering a replacement header, which runs about 140 bucks from advance auto in town, but they'd have to order it anyway so I'm looking around a bit for better prices. Should I replace the header & o2? or just one or the other?
  6. So I went out and bought some nice 16" rims on brand new tires. Little did I know subarus lug pattern is 4x140 and not 4x100 or 4x114 like I needed. Does anyone know if I can redrill my rims to fit the 4x140 pattern? They are universal 4 lug so they already have 4x100 and 4x114 bolt holes. Can I do this myself? Difficulty?
  7. Hello, I just joined this message board. I am having "problems" with shifting from first to second in my car. I suspect is could be solenoid, a sensor or a tired tranny. Here's some info. All of the car minus the engine has 250k on it. The engine is only at 130k. I come out of first gear with high revs between 4-5k at 30-40mph and it feels rough, forward to back rocking and then proceeds to run business as usual from second to third. It doesn't at all feel natural between the action of the shift and how delayed it is. I know something is wrong but trannys are not my forte so I can't quite put my finger on it. I hope for this to be a cheaper fix than replacing the tranny. Thanks for any help!
  8. I was rear ended and I can't get my trunk to close. Latch is not warped or anything and I replaced the bumper. I'm guessing it's the lock on the trunk. Can anyone help me find a replacement in Northern California? I am willing to travel any distance as long as I can find this. Pick n pull in the Bay Area has no sedans only wagons.
  9. Okay so its not literally purple lightning but thats what it looks like. My coil is arcing between the posts with purple "lightning". Ive never seen this before nor do I know how to diagnose this.... any ideas as to whats wrong? Is the coil itself bad or is it something I can fix? i.e. is it not grounded properly etc.... thanks for the input! I just wanna get my 81 sedan back in tip top condition so i can get it to the show this coming year.
  10. Look Here: ~► http://www.carthrottle.com/toyotas-done-the-dirty-on-us-gt86-saloon-confirmed/ So sad it is not April 1st, so it must be True... Kind Regards.
  11. Hey all, I'm new here and this is my first post. I was wondering if there's a coilover available for the Loyale sedan? I've heard that some early civic coils will work but I'm not sure. Ideally I would like to be incredibly low, as low as possible on 14" wheels. I was also wondering about the Digital Dash I have seen online. Does this only come in the Turbo version? Only come over seas (non US)? Could I swap one into a non digital dash'd L? My build is going to be very early 90's Japanese style inspired. Sorry for so many questions, I'm new! spvcxshxp.
  12. This is my sedan what do ya think? i will more pictures up later today.... This is nikki, shes a little rough around the edges but overall shes not too bad A little surface rust never hurt anyone eat sleep shift Chocolate brown interior <3 More interior Them carpets be lookin great Just broke 210K Shes still gettin warmed up And here she is sitting at the gas station more photos of the engine bay and all that fun stuff will be posted later, i got some questions to go along with them
  13. I just bought my first subaru, It is a 1988 Subaru GL-10 Turbo 1.8L 2wd Sedan, I would like to start doing some small modifications to the car, and slowly build the car up. I have enough stock parts to build this car over a total of 4 times (minus complete motors, transmissions, and shells, I have extra body panels and a ton of etc parts) Basically i was wondering for first of on this list of mods: 5 Lug conversion Lowered suspention Blow off valve Front mount intercooler adjustable boost controller w/ boost gauge catback exhaust anything to add some small horsepower without breaking the bank too badly, or to make the car more reliable. please if somebody could start me off in the right direction that would be great, i just finished all of the body work to the car, now i am eager to start modding!
  14. To make a long story short my uncle towed it in over a timing belt. They let him have it, cheap. And i got it for the scrap from a very worn ouT XT. one belt and a quart ATF (to stop the ticking), and I have a new daily driver.
