  1. I have an 03 Subaru forester x 2.5 SOHC and my cylinder heads and engine are no good. The forester engine that is original to the car did not have EGR. I have acquired a 2.5 long block from an 04 outback and I realize that I have to transfer over my intake assembly and most likely the cam and crank sprockets from my original forester motor. The problem I have is the drivers side cylinder from the outback came with an EGR port on the back of the drivers side cylinder head and the intake I will be using doesn't have the corresponding EGR port. Is it possible to somehow block or plug the EGR port on the outback cylinder seeing how my engine /wiring was never setup for that EGR tube. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks, Dan
  2. Hello everyone, I am preparing myself to rebuild an EJ25 engine in my 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i SOHC. I want to make sure my valves are at or near original factory spec. If all I do is lap the valves, I understand that I may need to readjust the stem height. Will this cause any problem with compression or timing? Is there a way to determine if I need to recut the 3 angled surfaces on the valves? If I buy new valves for this used head, it looks like I will need to lap them, but will they sit correctly in the head? Is there a way to check the valve seats and check it's angles or is all this that I'm asking about for the machine shop to do?
  3. Hi, I need to replace head gaskets for 2006 Outback 2.5i. While my daughter is using this car, radiator got blown. This has EJ253 with active valve system. I got these cylinder head off now. Subaru manual says I need special tools to remove valve rocker assembly, 18258AA000 and 18354AA000. Does anyone know this can be done without these tools or not? Just undo fastners for the assembly and cam bearing doesn't work? If I can, I will remove valves and replace seals. If not I wll replace head gaskets and valve cover gaskets only. Any imput, idea? Thanks.
  4. hey guys i also have a ej22 with single port exhaust and was wondering if any of you would know where i could find the part number for those cylinder heads. i cant seem to find them / it anywhere. I picked up a 98 legacy with a 96 ej22 with bent valves for dirt cheep and i am looking to hunt down some good remanufactured and or new cylinder heads depending on the cost. What do you think would be my best value ?
  5. I am currently restoring a 1978 Brat and when I tore down the motor to rebuild it, I noticed that one of my cylinder head has two small cracks. The head is cracked in the small area between the exhaust and intake valve seats. Does anyone have heads they would be willing to part with or know anyone else that has some?
