BoxersOnly Posted February 14, 2004 Share Posted February 14, 2004 I was cleaning my valve covers before I put them back on the EJ25, and noticed that one of the covers was damaged. It looks kinda weird, doesn't look like it got hit by something.... maybe heat ? Take a look. They still look ok from the inside, so I'll still use them. Hondasucks Posted February 15, 2004 Share Posted February 15, 2004 yeah they're just casting marks. Nothing to worry about, but if they really bother you, you can sand them off and polish the covers. Over on the Camaro board Russ was showing me an article on polishign aluminum. CROSSTBOLT Posted February 15, 2004 Share Posted February 15, 2004 What *it* is, is flashing or ridges in the die-cast part caused by cracks in the dies used in the casting process. All die-casting dies get this was somewhere sooner or later because of the heat and pressure of the die-casting process. No problem in the parts generally. Sand 'em down & polish or bead blast 'em!
