Lowering a Loyale

Recommended Posts

So this might seem to be an odd question but has anyone ever lowered a loyale or any older Subarus? I know lifting is very popular but has anyone gone the other way? Now I'm not talking slamming the thing but maybe just a couple inches to improve handling and stance. I like the way RX's sit. Are there suspension components pretty interchangeable with the loyales?

many people have lowered GL's

few different ways to do it.

you can buy cheep Ebay adjustable coilover sleeves and springs. i did this once, the ride was vary stiff but it looked cool...

if you search subaru_styles did a thread on lowering:

Here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51023

and here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31804

or if you want the best results you can do what i did, i put Tein Flex coilovers:

Found Here http://www.suberdave.com/subaru/Leone/flex/index.htm

good luck...

this is the lowest you can go in the front with stock struts

it was basically just sitting on the bumpstops

i have ebay coilover-sleeves for a honda civic and i have since this pic raised it to make it drivable.

i really want to find some shorter struts so i can go that low and still have it drivable

Hey thanks guys this is some really good info. I've also heard that the 2wd loyale struts sit a little bit lower than 4wd loyales.

So the other thing im wondering is will lowering increase the handling on the loyale also?

I have a lowered legacy wagon and the thing handles great granted it has front a rear sway bars as well. What are some things i can do to increase the handling? Sway bars, strut bars? I know they are not necessarily handling machines but i might be a fun project.
