Can you use the distributor off a 1988 subaru on your 1978 subaru?

Any ideas welcome..

 

If it's off an '88 hatch, sure... if it's aything else, it will be a FI disty...

 

of course you didn't say if you sill ad the '78 engine or not :)

Lets assume hes not pulling the disty off a beautiful hatch and it is simply an ea82. In that case the answer would be no.

Yea, we need more information!

 

While we're at it...The NIPONDENSO carb distributor has two governor springs and 2 flyweights. I've swapped out many of those both...just not on a Subaru before.

 

Generally speaking, heavy cars and automatic transmissions use a different advance then manual trans and lighter weight.
