So it looks like you're using GD WRX Brake and clutch pedals.  How/what did you modify to get those to work?

What about the throttle pedal?  Still using the GL pedal?  What throttle cable do you use?

I was actually working on this today lol, cars ready for paint and I needed to drill the holes for the clutch ill snap some pics to show you

  • Thanks 1

Thanks!  It's interesting to play detective while discovering how my car was originally swapped and converted, but it makes it a pain in the rear when parts are worn out or heavily modified...

Looking forward to your pics/description of your pedals!

Good effort Nico! Will all the glass be removed before the respray? And any spray work happening under the vehicle?

Mid love to do the same to my L series but time, money and space are at a premium these days ;(

Keep up the good work!

Cheers

many parts have come in for the motor now its time to dig a ej22t block out and build it while I wait for paint work.

Wossner Made in Germany forged 22B pistons and connecting rods, STD size pistons means no messing around with my ej22t block & machine shop .... I should have just built all my ej22T this way

48016498546_2746251d6f_b.jpg

ACL racing STD size bearings not race version, STi spec-c oil cooler adapter, proper water pump with single port and old school timing belt tensioner from the ej22t aka the motorsports racing tensioner.

48016497611_9787198d1f_b.jpg

aurora asm-10T military aviation spec front control arm spherical bearings, this will all me to run longer aka normal Subaru length CV axles and also camber. I won't need to modify the front crossmember to except XT6 front control arms.

lots of mess

OOOooooo, VERY interested to see what you do with your control arms, mine are bent from a previous owner...

Talk to me about the timing belt tensioner, what makes it more "motorsports-y" than current production?

control arm im cutting the bushing straight off welding in block for threads so I can lengthen the arm for better camber longer cv axles

I have no clue why that tensioner is called that but its supposed to be the better one, I have so many of them the self from all the ej22t motors I own. I guess it holds grip better Roger clark motorsports makes a crazy one but its expensive and I found a way around it.

ADDCO 22M front and rear sway bar set up for the wagon.

Pics please of the control arm process, once you get to that point.  Link to the parts for that, or did you piece it together yourself?

How long ago did you get those Addco bars?  I just spoke to them a few weeks ago and it seemed like they were out of stock with no plans to produce more, or am I mistaken?

Ok, now I’m super jealous about paint! I’d love to do a full resorts of both my L wagon and my brumby. Ultimately a rotisserie would be used to do the underside and inner guards as well... probably won’t ever happen though.

So I’ll have to live vicariously though your efforts Nico!

Cheers

today was exciting !. A 2004 Subaru STi Steering rack showed up, its time to install this into my old school 80s subaru engine cross member

49835251628_184c42d638_c.jpg

49836088327_c974f1f60f_c.jpg

so here is the issue, the lines need to be a little bit longer and then you move the bracket over to where the fancy factory sticker is.

49836088112_9ed52b5e61_c.jpg

49836087962_74a3254e0e_c.jpg

take the bracket off and move the lines out the way, so there we have it, it fits right in the spot.

49835781576_fe0476dcce_c.jpg

also we have to make it look original that's how I roll, sometimes lol !!
with the same bracket I cut out the U shape a little more, this way I can bolt it up like stock. then I flipped the bracket around so I can put the bolt on the top, this makes it easier to install.
you have to bend the lines into place for a little length which you can do by hand.

49835247388_c954182394_c.jpg

49836085017_17a9a903cf_c.jpg

Ps: you have to enlarge the holes on the crossmember beforehand, and then cut the pocket out on the opposing side so the lines can stick out

49835779931_a0ea5ba6da_c.jpg

what I gained from doing this

18:0 GL-10 Steering ratio to a impressive 15:1 04 STi Ratio, that's 4 ratios quicker. id say that's more impressive then everyone only upgrading from 15:0 to 13:0 (3 ratios )

so we know the motor and transmission fit but this little turbo has a issue, had a feeling this was going to happen but there is a fix . Borger Warner makes a shorter wastegate and bracket for this very reason
