Fairtax4me Posted September 19, 2012 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a 2.5 shortblock to rebuild in school but freightg would be $$$ from Co to Va. If you want the 95-96 engine for dual port heads, stick to 95. 96 they switched to single port. Otherwise, you can expand your search up to about 98-99. Besides the interference they fit/work greatly the same. If you want non-interference, go for any 90-95 and use your 2.5's sensors and intake manifold. WoodsWagon Posted September 19, 2012 Share Posted September 19, 2012 95 2.2l auto is the only complete bolt in with EGR. 96-98 2.2l auto needs the Y pipe to Cat flange swapped with it, but otherwise bolt in. 90-94's have no EGR port and a 2.5l manifold won't bolt up to them anyway. lmdew Posted September 23, 2012 Author Share Posted September 23, 2012 Found a 96 2.2 with 150K on it in the Den UPAP and thanks to Shawn I was able to install it and get it running.
