TOsborn
Today the tachometer on my '86 GL started acting a bit off. Between 2k and 3k RPM it jumps around. Works fine below and above that range. I've checked the ground wires at the coil, and the distributor seems fine. Anything else that would be worth checking? The engine is an EA82T. Thanks in advance.
naru
Usually, this means the distributor bushings are worn and the shaft is flopping around. Take the cap off and see if you can wiggle the shaft around.
TOsborn
Okay, thanks for the heads up. I checked the cap/rotor but was in a bit of rush as it is dumping rain and didn't check shaft play. Thanks again.
old sub freak
Take and surgically put a few drops of oil on the shaft and you can get many more miles out of it. I used a syringe and gave it a "main line shot" haha ..oh the good old days...
