Recommended Posts

Hi im back after some months of work and search for a dual carb intake manifold. I found one and sent it to a factory to perform the modification from dual carb to a single weber carb...below are the results...

I've the car running with the weber for a month, is another car, runs great and has more acceleration but I noticed that the fuel consumption is very high, i think that the weber has the jets (fuel and air) for a 1800.
it's gave me about 12 liters per 100 km (with A/C on). I'm looking for the correct set up jettings for a EA71 1600, any ideas?

I'm really Glad to know that you solved your problem, despite that you did not obtained a single carb intake, the solution went well.

The Main Fuel Jets for the 1.8L (EA81 and EA82) Subaru engines, are usually set at 140 both stages, I guess that you can try with something around 100 for primary (Low) Stage, and something around 120 for Secondary (High) Stage on your 1.6L (EA71) Subaru engine. The air jets could remain the same, but this is a Test & Error trial that you shall made.

Kind Regards.

Why would you do that? FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Loyale said, i'm not able to found a factory intake manifold with single carb for EA71 because that model not arrived to this country...just EA71 1600 5 speed MT (2wd) and EA81 1800 on the 80's
The same for the Brat's...not arrived here  :(

I have heaps of them. Would he sell the other one that hasn't been hacked yet?

No, I wanna keep them...just in case that I need it in the future or if I want roll back the weber setup to keep the car as original.

Rather than trial and error tuning the carb main jets i suggest you get yourself a good Wideband O2 sensor and wire it up.  That way you know what the car is doing.  I tuned a weber that way and got it dialed in really well.  Idle you want it somewhere in the 15-15.5:1 afr.  Wide open throttle you want 13.1-13.2:1 or  there a bouts.  you can do it seat of the pants but i really don't like that idea of guessing what the car is doing.  It might feel really great wide open but you could be running it way too lean and not know until it is too late.
