LSD Rear Differential Oil Type?

Hi Folks, am new here and in need of some help. Before you ask about what type of car, well, to be honest, these LSDs are finding themselves in early Datsun 510s as an upgrade. We have a number of mid-80's Subie LSD R160s that we swap into the 510 rear cross member and there is much discussion about the correct type of gear oil to use. Part of the camp says no to synthetic because it is too slippery. Others say yes to Redline 75W-90. So, any advise? I can't find a GL or RX FSM to save my life. BTW, we take the 3.70 LSDs and combine them with the later 4.111 open Subaru diffs for a very, very nice 4.111 LSD. Before you flame me for being a Datsun guy, I do own and drive a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT turbo wagon, too :)

Thanks, Derek
