What motor ?

Recommended Posts

ej22 motor or ej25 motor with ea to ej adapter plate is your best option because there isn't any huge gain with a direct bolt on swap to ea82t which is getting hard to find parts for and isn't worth swap for a few extra horse power especially offroad. A ea71, ea81, ea81t, ea82 carb/fuel injected, and ea82t will all bolt to your transmission. You can upgrade your carb to a weber 32/36 like many people have and get rid of a bunch of stuff for emissions to make it gain a little bit if you have a carb.

Not to thread jack (sorry), but what options are there for trans swap?  Particularly for the auto crowd with a 3at...will the 4.44 4AT swap in with stock mounts, or does it require some fab work to build new mounts/relocate existing mounts?  Seems this would be a more viable option, doing an entire driveline swap rather than just an engine swap, given the limited options available...

The only 4eat trans ratio that i know of thats a "bolt in" is 3.70 from a loyale. Bolt in is in quotes because, with the proper parts, it will bolt right in behind any ea/er engine. The tricky bit is its an electronically controlled trans, so it has its very own computer. The really hard part comes when that computer wants info from the engine computer.

The 4.44 you mentioned is an ej trans. If you're going that far you may as well do a full ej swap.

Doable, yes, but definately not plug n play
