Making a more complete 2" lift

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

So I've had a BOSS lift installed in my 87 wagon for a few months now. She still rolls, but the front cvs are pretty unhappy. The camber is bad too.

Someone posted on my build thread about putting in spacers to lower the crossmember, radius rods etc.

My only concern with this is the steering linkage. I did just pick up a new welder, but I am not so confident in my welding skills yet, to hack up such a crucial connection. Are there any newer models that I could just grab the linkage from in a junkyard? If not I guess I'll have to fab one up myself.

My other question is concerning the spacers that are on the outback crossmembers. is this something that I could take and throw onto my car pretty easily?

Thanks!

Get the crossmember and trans mount spacers off of a 95-99 Outback or early forester.  These are 1 1/4" and will bolt right in.

90-94 Legacy steering coupler will fit.

Those spacers will fit a first gen legacy, but not a 3rd gen L-series. The rear suspension mounting is completely different, and I'm not sure the front cross member bolt pattern is the same.

I am only talking about the front spacers.

The Front Crossmember spacers do fit a Gen 3 L series perfectly.

Will not fit Gen II.

The trans mount spacers are just a single "puck" of steel that goes between the body and the trans crossmember...Sometimes they are stuck by paint to the Outback transmount, but wack 'em and they come off........you'll need longer bolts than stock.

Anyone have a picture of those trans mount spacers? I just grabbed the xmember spacers from the junkyard but all the trans pieces were taken off. I tried digging around in the cars to find them but didn't see anything that looked right.

just thought i'd add in here..  i added the crossmember spacers from 00-04 on for mine to help out the axles. they fit as well, but i had to cut the end of it off to make it work. there is a curve towards the firewall that was getting in the way because of different frame size.  its about 1.25" as well.   i looked but i dont think a picture of it exists on the internet,
