SEEC- T 1600 cc engine - what was it?

Recommended Posts

Based on some googling, some old popular mechanics magazines told me basically this:

Subaru Exhaust Emission Control Technique.

It requires no catalyst or other tack-on emission-control device. It is a system for introducing fresh air into the combustion chamber that works with the air/fuel mixture to sandwich unburned exhaust(which comes in through a special air-intake valve) and ensure more complete burning. This not only cleans up the exhaust, but allows the engine to run a leaner mixture of fuel.

Not Exactly EGR, because EGR recirculates the Engine's Gasses.

It is more like the A.S.V. = "Air Suction Valve"

In example. the Purpose of the A.S.V. system on the EA82's, is to put some fresh air onto the Exhaust system, to aid to the Catalytic Converter to work as it Should; the two Small Black Boxes on it (one per side of the Engine), are intended for Noise reduction.
