Rocketdog Posted December 9, 2015 Share Posted December 9, 2015 After FINALLY getting my cv axle out of the front passenger hub to replace the bearings, the inner bearing came out with the axle! DaveT Posted December 9, 2015 Share Posted December 9, 2015 A smaller power tool with a cutoff disk. The bearing is probably ruined now anyway. So destroying it to save the shaft makes sense. I think if I had one that stuck, I'd try to find a way to clamp and protect the axle end in a vise. Hammer on the outer race. Or find a big bearing splitter and puller to do it the more conventional way. I have a medium sized set, which works for normally tight ones. After two hours of exhausting creativity, sore buns from sitting for so long and mangled hands I got to stand up and toss that wheel bearing. I feel better! Thank you all for your advice! ferp420 Posted December 12, 2015 Share Posted December 12, 2015 In had that happen once the bearing is still on the axle and funny enuff i still have the axle and bearing we were replacing the axle but ended up putting a spare hub with good bearings in it with the new axle I didn't trust the old hub seeing as how the bearing came out in one piece i figured the hub was wore out and i didn't want to even try to save the old bearing Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
