Theoneills
I think this is connected to the coolant bypass and seems to contain a spring. Could it regulate pressure? https://www.amazon.com.au/clouddrive/share/rwswVE7EgA62Soc3jOMegJ0TGIW5MdRlvtAlHbAVYWF
pksjeep
I think it is a valve that heats up and allows coolant to flow/or stop flowing to the carb.
Turbone
Possibly, it also appears that a nipple is broken off
Gloyale
I think it is a valve that heats up and allows coolant to flow/or stop flowing to the carb. It's thermovalve that was used on the EA81 manifolds. It's between the Intake coolant passage and the heater core return. It can be eliminated and use just a elbow or bendable hose to complete the connection.
Theoneills
Thanks to you both. I bypassed it and it’s back running like a dream but I’ve heard that if eliminated it can cause rising temps?
Theoneills
Further to my previous reply. I live in Queensland Australia where the avg daytime temp is mid 20 celcius in winter and high 20’s in Summer so I’m inclined to block the water passage rather than bypass it. Any thoughts?
