Need OEM "Security Diagram - Schematic" No Start

Recommended Posts

2001 Legacy Auto Trans - 170k miles

I need the  - "Security Diagram - Schematic" to trace / find PWR or GND short.

Security blinking light in instrument cluster has an non spec OEM blink sequence. Rather than a "blink & pause" it's a "fast blink, blink & pause" It's my understanding the double blink & pause indicates a fault [short] in the system.

Yes, this is in a no start situation. I've done the readings using DVM regarding PWR to Ignition Switch, Starter Relay, Shift Interrupt at shifter, <=> Starter / GND. Battery at +12v & new starter. Components to wiring harness etc. My DVM and I have become very intimate :(

Circuits show either system V [>12] when connected, or load V when disconnected. Ex The 4 contacts of ignition switch to its 4 point connector to harness tests ok and the 5th Green wire to starter relay.

I realize I have more circuits [wires] to test, but when the Security System is not blinking to spec, I must test it.

Thanks in advance

Bob

PS I'd appreciate a definitive answer for "What components will cause a "no start".

Thanks for the reference. Todays my reading & research day.

GeneralDisorder

12+ V at battery, cables & terminals in excellent condition.

It was an "intermittent no start"without any V at wire to solenoid. Now it's a No start. Obviously, something is the "start" system is preventing V to the solenoid. I use a DVM & LoadPro from http://esitest.com It puts a load on the circuit to get a more accurate V reading.

I tried the 5x rapid key = no change.

Load-Pro is an interesting tool. I've learned so much from Dan Sullivan's book as well. "V" are my go to test procedure.

Re 2001 Legacy

I found the “Security” module and the instructions for testing the “Keyless Entry” module.

However, when researching the location of the “Keyless Entry” there appears to be difference of opinion as to its location. I’m led to believe it’s either behind the glove box or in or behind the center console.

The http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/Legacy_Outback/2001/ contains an amazing amount of information. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be frustrating to find a particular item such as “instructions for testing the Security Module”. And it’s difficult for me to determine what model Subaru they're referencing.

I'm guessing the code in the upper left corner indicates subsystems such as on page WI-81, "4AT(L)-02" means Automatic Trans, left hand drive, but "02" means what? Can someone explain the code or where is the page to explain this code or do you have to know the secret handshake for the answer? ;<)

A few more questions:

1] the Keyless Entry Module is located here =>

2] the instructions for testing the Security Module are located here =>

* The ProDemand’s schematics are excellent. Does anyone have them for the Security and Keyless Entry systems?

Thanks in advance

PS Fortunately, my wife, a real estate agent, prints everything at home. So I have lots of scrap paper [w/o client info] for printing schematics and notes on unused side. In hindsight, I should just use her office printer and load all the docs & press print 2 sided.
