98 Legacy Outback Knock Sensor issue

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I’m trying to replace the knock sensor in a 98 Legacy Outback I just bought, but I ran into a weird problem. I was able to unscrew the sensor, but when I followed the wire to unplug it, I couldn’t find the end. It went on for way longer than it should and then got bundled in with other wires on the left side of the engine.

Does anyone know where the actual plug should be? Because the wire of my new knock sensor is only about 1-2 inches.

Sounds like someone cut out the connector.

I bet if you undo the loom and/or tape about 2 inches up, you'll see either butt connectors or a solder joint.

The weird thing is that it enters the loom about 4 inches in. So the butt connector shouldn’t even be in that area.
