Well, you wouldn't expect it to be a used one, so yes I'm gonna say it will come with a fresh, brand new surface. I for one would have the step checked if it's an aftermarket new (likely chinese) I know EA82 step should be .830~.815, I always have mine taken to .815 for the extra clamp force. On my big lifted EJ'd wheeler I run a .811 step flywheel. I do not know the step for EA81 4spd clutch. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Twitch de la Brat Posted April 12, 2018 Share Posted April 12, 2018 LUK is who supplies Napa, and while I worked there, I never had any return under warranty that weren't blatantly abused/oil soaked. So I'd take that as a good sign. I typically went with Sachs for my clutch kits, but idk if they're still Japanese/German made. Subasaurus Posted April 12, 2018 Share Posted April 12, 2018 (edited) i've had clutches from autozone, oreilly's and Advance, and they slip like crazy from new (made in China, and some parts from Mexico) Exedy on the other hand... best $160 i've ever spent (on an Impreza), plus the pilot bearing and throwout bearings actually say made in japan and such, good quality stuff there, grabs like a Motha f***** Exedy all the way for me. I was actually stunned and amazed when i ordered brake pads for a 79 Subie through rock auto, actually had the Fuji Heavy Industries Logo on them, wasn't expecting that one, box looked from the late 90s or so though. Sapper 157 Posted April 17, 2018 Share Posted April 17, 2018 (edited) I have a LUK in my 84 right now. So far I have put 12,000 miles on it with no problems. Most of that has been stop and go city driving too. If you can’t get the exedy, the LUK kit is a fine standin in my opinion. As has already been said, don’t bother with a new flywheel.
