lmdew
The plastic air dam under the engine, any negatives to removing it completely?
montana tom
Not that I've ever noticed. Been removing them for years. I guess the bottom of the motor can get splashed ... big deal..
forester2002s
Theoretically, that plastic shield may also help reduce fuel consumption a little, by smoothing out the air-flow at high speeds. In practice though, this improvement may be miniscule, especially for city driving.
Mike104
I took mine off my 03 Forester (fire hazard due to oil soaked pad) when I got it three or four years ago. No issues noted
montana tom
I agree about the air flow ... however little that might be. I think they put the lower cover and the large plastic top covers on , so when the buyer opens the hood it looks FULL (even though it isn't) Consumer wants to think he is getting something for $20,000 +
GeneralDisorder
Get a Primitive Racing skid plate if you are concerned. Throw the plastic junk away. GD
