Help needed with this Kit Kar Konundrum ('06 OBW)

Recommended Posts

The good pal I sling Subarus with up here recently bought an '06 OBW (AT, turbo).  The PO had dismantled the engine for reasons that don't appear to have been sound, and unable to put it back together again, unloaded it on my friend for a song.  He's gotten it pretty much sorted out, the biggest hangup (predictably) being all the manifold hoses.  Now that the engine is in, the major outstanding mystery is a pair of lines (1/4"-ish rubber) coming from the top of the transmission housing and held in a little white plastic clip next to the tranny-firewall brace (upper right corner of photo).  There are no obvious corresponding connections in the engine neighborhood.

Can anyone shed light on where these go?

air breather tube?? you did not say which AT tranny it has - 4 or 5 speed - 2006 had both options

found this in a FSM - for the 5sp AT.. looks kinda like your description (picture is too small to make much out)

Before you go an blow up this engine/turbo - check the turbo for shaft play and PLEASE re-route the oil feed to the turbo from the engine block main oil gallery. The 05/06 LGT platform cars (OBXT being one) have major problems with turbocharger failures due to the lack of proper turbo oil feed. The stock setup is shared with the right bank AVCS oil feed and there are three 0.040" orifices in the turbo feed banjo's besides the banjo bolt oil screen filters (remove ALL of the these). Delete the factory turbo oil feed and re-route with a single 0.040" orifice (the turbo CHRA banjo bolt itself).

These also suffer from ring-land failure and oil pickup tube cracking so those should be addressed and the turbo inlet should be replaced with silicone. Also the TMIC's are plastic and the tanks blow off.

We have a saying around the shop - "Friends don't let friends by Legacy GT's". Because they are a total $hit-show.

The 5EAT's often have electrical gremlins too. Which is a whore to fix usually.
