1 Lucky Texan Posted February 20, 2020 Share Posted February 20, 2020 well, not really Yesterday, a guy in a Subaru truck, wearing a Subaru shirt/hat/badge, came by my house looking for my WRX. Evidently, he is tasked with replacing pass side airbags. Of course, my car is 30 minutes away with me at work. Didn't say anything about my wife's Outback (which has had a like-for-like swap already) getting an upgrade. She didn't know enough to ask. Seems to be out of a regional office in Georgia? not sure, maybe some 3rd party guys hired by SOA? When I do the airbag thing, much rather do it at a local dealer. I know Subaru is pushing folks a lot harder than a few years ago to replace the airbag inflators. Since I picked up the 2005 Outback Sport last year, I've gotten numerous notices from Subaru about the recall, one even offering a discount on parts. I also received one form the DMV. I'd get it done but the car just sits in the yard and there no convenient Subaru dealers nearby. I know Honda is going to great lengths to get these done (since they used Takatas in the driver's side, it's considerably more dangerous). He also mentioned there is a push on to get older cars done as they are at greatest risk. I'm gonna try to schedlule the work soon but at a dealership.
