Swap 2002 31000AE800 transmission in place of 31000AE640? Trans swap differences 3.0 and GT+ Baja.

Recommended Posts

My 2002 non-VDC Bean Outback transmission part#31000AE640 has a non-repairable forward diff. I can source a 2002 transmission part#31000AE800 from a Legacy GT. My question is will this work?

The parts diagram I referenced shows that it does. Although the diagram for #31000AE640 shows that transmission only fitting the non-VDC 3.0 cars, not the GT. Seems confusing.

I’m in the Northwest. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of a 2002 #31000AE640 non-VDC or even a broken one with a good forward differential I would be most appreciative. I have quite a few old Subarus and some NOS parts I might consider trading for the transmission.

Using Opposedforces, Looks like Numbchux is correct - again. Scroll down to Gear set-hypoid

3.0 OB: http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b12/type_27/train/differential_transmission/ = 4.11

GT: http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b12/type_4/train/differential_transmission/  = 4.44

But note the Transmission ID / Part Number is different, so YMMV.
