steering wheel removal

Recommended Posts

Sometimes EA82's do get stuck on there pretty good. I've used just a standard 2 jaw puller, if you look at the wheel, there are actually slots in there for one of this type. Or, If I remember correctly, the bolt is an M12 1.0 pitch thread. So what you can do is get a nut to match the steering column, and one to match the wheel puller, and just weld the two together. And then use a standard wheel puller.

Or, you can just take the nut off, grab the wheel, put your chest on the wheel, and wrap your arms around it grabbing your shoulders with your hands, then plant your feet well on the end of the floor board, then yank on that thing with all you got, usually takes 2, but I've had some that didn't come untill the 4th try.

This method sucks the worst when your in a wrecking yard, and the car doesn't have a seat in it. Either way, lotsa luck.
