Carb adjustment

I finally got a new carb on my Justy. They had to order one from Japan. Anyway, I didn't make any mixture adjustments and I don't know if I should or not. Currently it's idling a little higher (1400) than it should (900), but when idling down where it should it's a little rough. I'm wondering what this might indicate. There's a bit of hesitation from a stop when it's cold, too. My mileage could be a little better so my first guess is that it might be running a bit rich. Is the kind of stuff I described indicative of that, or of something else in particular?

In any case, I am glad to finally have on there a carb that seems to be working properly, rather than the two crap reman'd ones that were on there before.

Sounds like the same thing I'm going through...81 EA81 GL wagon with a rebuilt hitachi. I got my idle down by playing with the mixture and timing. The timing might help it idle a little smoother down low. Mine hesistates horribly when cold, but once at operating temp for 5 minutes it runs great. Hesitation can be caused my a malfunctioning EGR valve and/or vacuum leaks in my experience. Just my 2 cents...I'm still trying to figure out my hesitation.
