Guest baccaruda
OK. I'm going to replace the bottom end of the engine in skeet's car before he drives it back to kentucky from spokane. since that's 2200 miles, 2500 if he takes the scenic routes, we'd like to try and budget his gas mileage but.. his car is carbureted and i'm going to replace the long block. i may put in an MPFI if I think it'll all swap over (looking tomorrow AM at a parts yard) for the higher compression, but I have no idea what gas mileage to predict after it's tuned.. any opinions? Also, there was a really good link to a page about octane.. anyone have a link? thanks..
Guest GlCraigGT
Increasing the compression ratio generally increases the engines efficiency. However the EA82 CARB and MPFI have the same compression ratio. The SPFI engine is the one with the higher ratio

Guest archemitis
the spfi is the high comp motor. use it and you will be happy. gas mileage will increase and so will hp. LOW END TORQUE!
