1980 GL 1600 Fuel tank interchange

Recommended Posts

can i get a bigger tank? cause 20 mpg with a 10 gallon tank is not gonna cut it, if i can get a 15.9 to bolt right in that would be great, but i don't know if the EA-81 tanks are the same as the EA-82 tanks, cause the EA-82 tank is the only one i have, but its still attached to the 88 wagon.

If not i'll be pricing out fuel cells, should be interesting going into a speed shop and asking if one will fit in the back of my subaru, "no not a WRX" it should get a laugh.

The tanks are different, but with your lift you might be able to do it without problems. Or you could get a EA81 tank from a 2wd car.

85sub4wd, I wouldnt put to much faith in your Haynes manual. They have been known to be wrong, on quite a few occasions.

Oh, I am not putting any faith in it - I said they LOOK similar (If I had faith in it, I would not have gotten a FSM!!)

Also, Subaru uses the same diagram for the fuel systems in both cars (I have part of an EA81 FSM), they just change the place of two things in the system
